i have no problem keeping ta around... however, i know that the celtics won't give him a nice contract, probably even one like the one posey's agent called "unacceptable". and the celtics will be at a take it or leave it bases so i think ta leaves for more money. i mean, even if he stays... he can't really get the playing he needs to break out again. we just drafted giddens and walker, both of which can do what ta does right now.

Playing time is a valid issue.

But who is going to give TA all that much more money at this point?

I've hated on Tony Allen this past season,(especially when he blew a game against Detroit by falling for Billups' infamous pump fake, get fouled jumper) but everyone deserves time to recover. And the fact that he at least played versus sitting on the bench to collect a ring is admirable. If he can be the old Tony again, from when he and Pierce were helping win games a couple years back, then I'm all for keeping him. Plus, we all saw his potential come back of health when he had that sick dunk in game 6. Even Doc Rivers made a comment saying, " You were holding out on me all season". Bring him back, hopefully for like 1.6 mil or something, get House the money he deserves and hope you have enough to keep Posey for a few years.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Who wouldn't want to give money to a guy who can dribble circles around Rajon Rondo? ;)

I haven't read or seen anything on other teams interested in TA, which is good news for us. If we cant resign Poz, than I would extend a one year contract at Tony. After this offseason he should have some confidence back in his knee, and be a lock down defender. Offensivley well he is Dr.Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.

Alas, yes, there's that.

Book him for the Hawks next year.  Celts never make it out of the first round next time around  ;)

Yeah, that's the word on the street.  A TP for your troubles and ensuing pain.

That'd actually help the Hawks a lot. Atlanta would then have two perimeter players who are mediocre or better defensively. Plus their second player who can actually beat his man off the dribble. Good fit.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Even if Posey doesn't resign i don't see Tony back in Green. He's simply not productive as a bench player. He's a negative on the floor more times than not. If he was given starters minutes and allowed to play through his mistakes I'm sure he'd be productive, but he's not going to get those minutes here.

I don't expect the Celtics to try and resign him. I feel kind of bad for him, but I'm sure he could find a spot somewhere.

TA was not offered a contract by the C's and is now an unrestricted free agent.
Can't say I'm going to be all that sorry to see him go.
I'd rather see what we have in Walker and Giddens at this point.

That's not necessarily a foregone conclusion at this point.  The Celtics declined to put forth a qualifying offer to TA, which was a fixed amount (can't remember it offhand) that was too high for their liking.  That doesn't preclude them from signing him on the cheap via free agency if that's the course of action they choose to pursue.

That said, I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment, vjc.
