I wouldn't want Kobe in a million years. I don't care if he were handed to us on a platter (like Gasol was for LA).
There are certain players you just don't want at any cost. In the early days of Celticsblog, I fought long and hard with my "Just say NO to Stevie Franchise" comments when people were clamoring for him to come to Boston. Same with Starbury (finally, everyone came around and realized that you wouldn't want these guys). TMac is another one - by all accounts, a really nice guy and probably a friendly teammate, but not an Ubuntu-type player on the court.
Kobe is the absolute antithesis of Ubuntu. In fact, the term "Ubuntu-type player" or simply "Ubuntu player" should be added to the official basketball dictionary. And then the term "Kobe-type player" should be added as an antonym to that dictionary entry.
Example: "James Posey is one of those Ubuntu guys that every team needs to win a championship." "Stephon Marbury is one of those Kobe-type players that kills a team's chemistry on and off the court."
