I'm so sick of this one one one mentality when it is a team game.  We got three Kobe's, to there one,and that is why we are winning.  All three of our players have comparable numbers over their history to Kobe, yet don't get the respect because they never played with Shaq.  That is what it really is all about.  Kobe is great, but not even close to the greatest.  In this day he is just another all star in his prime.  The thing I love about the C's is they don't whine.  They don't care about the individual glory.  It really is all about "Ubuntu".

It is all about the media playing this thing up from the start.  IMO, Lebron should have been MVP anyhow. To that team he was more of an x factor then Kobe.  Come on, he was starting along side Wally and Delonte.  Two of our throw away guys from a 24 win team.

Last night I let go of the Kobe, and Lakers hate and joined the Unbunto chant.  I started to admire and love what this team has done, instead of doubt.

Go C's bring home 17, you guys deserve it!!!

Are you talking about Kobe Bryant?  The player that got outplayed in this series by both Paul and Ray (with the exception of game 3)?

Blame it on David Stern. He promotes individuals, not teams.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Are you referring to "therapist?"

Robin without his batman? - Actually, I think therapist would settle for Alfred dressed up in the suit at this point...

Agreed. It drives me crazy that people assert that Kobe is the best player on the planet as if it is a given. It is certainly not a given, it is an argument, a bad one, too, since Kobe was outplayed by Chris Paul and Lebron James this year, but made it farther due to a superior supporting cast.

I rate Kobe Bryant as the best player in the league since he beat Timmy D. I have had Duncan there since 2003 and in the top two since '99 behind Shaq.

LeBron should be able to take over that slot from Bryant in the coming year. He made incredible strides in his game this past season but still needs to do more to achieve that title.

Kobe is great, but to draw a comparison the wolf is only as strong as the pack, or something like that.  The point being is that Kobe being the poster boy for the NBA (with Lebron) shows what is wrong with basketball at this time in history...the me first attitude...particularly the way Kobe interacts with his teammates.  What gets me is how the NBA markets the individual stand alone player on a good team, versus the individual player(s) on good teams, that play a team concept.  I see that the Lakers play well with a team concept at times, but at the end of games it has to be the Kobe Bryant show or they lose...however, look on the other end of the floor last night and you see Paul hit a big shot and a couple of free throws, Ray had the reverse layup and then the other one over Vujacic, KG had the driving jumper through the lane.  My point is why not do more to promote the players that play within a team style ball.  I think if the NBA did more of that it would trickle down to college and AAU that its important to be a team player and that there are enough shots for everyone if everyone comes to work each day at it.  To much of basketball has become let me get mine and I dont care if we stink, and I think a lot of that has to do with the pedestle that players like Kobe are held up on.

  • The good ole days.
I'm sick of it being said as if it is an absolute fact.  There is plenty of evidence to argue for a few other players... but not if you listen to the TV heads.

I'd like it to be less important, but Stern's emphasis of certain players makes sense. Some 10-year-old kid in China, Nigeria, Serbia, or any town in the US doesn't want to practice basketball for hours each day so that he can be just another player on a team. It's all about making the fancy dunk or scoring 50 in a game. Stern's a businessman and the NBA has never been more popular/successful on a global scale than it is today.

At least Lebron took us to 7.  (Too soon?)

Man I'm getting sick of Kobe being called the best closer in the game.  When was the last time he close anything?  Wasn't Lebron James the player who lead the league in 4th quarter scoring?  I think the media tries so hard to crown this dude Kobe and all it has done was blow up in their face.  Next season they're going to be all on Lebron James and the Cs will win back to back championship...Oh hold up we still have one game to win.

I'm sick of them making out that the difference, the gap between Kobe and whoever is second, is so big. That wrecks my head.

I thought Allan Iverson was the greatest player on the planet  :o

Lebron James is better than Kobe in my humble opinion.

So is Paul Pierce this year.
