If Perk and Rondo were 100%, would Doc have stuck with that lineup? :-\
This was the Red Auerbach's part from heaven...

Even if it was just Doc's luck that it worked, I'll credit him with that then.  If he wins us 17 and 18 because he's lucky, I'll thank him and donate the leprechaun outfit for when he retires.

That's a good question. I think he would have. He knew he needed to spread the floor, and he showed he was willing to stick with house even when he wasn't hitting shots last game to do that. We know he's always liked the posey - garnett front court, so I'd like to think he would've tried that option even if Perk didn't get hurt.

Celtics won the game and on their way to win a title.

I have nothing to complain about right now.

I am shocked that going small actually worked.  It was greatly helped by Posey hitting everything.  And the Celtics finally realized the Lakers have no shot blockers.

I avoided this site in the first half because I figured the negative posters would be going crazy. So now I'm not going to be a little negative about Doc. He coached well but Eddie should have been playing more all along.

It was well coached and played from the 2nd quarter on.

How fitting for Doc if we can close this out on Father's Day.

I don't think it would have worked in games 1 and 2, when the Lakers were playing more straight up, but now that they were constantly trapping, it became more important to have good floor spacing, and guys who could make the defense pay for leaving their man open.

It also helped that Posey was able to completely neutralize Odom, who was destroying our big men.

I'll admit I was flipping out on Doc early on, mainly because of PJ playing in weird spots where we needed aggressive rebounding and scoring.

But mad props for sticking with Eddie.  Eddie spacign the floor opens EVERYTHING up.  He starts the second half, and all the sudden KG gets established because he's not swarmed by double teams.  That opens the middle for drives by Paul.  Gives the shooters some space to operate.

AWESOME.

I never flipped out on the coach in this game.

The officials that didn't call a foul on the Lakers until they were up by double digits and KG on the bench with 2 fouls.

Doc has done a great job out-coaching the Hall-of-Famer. Red would be proud. I would like to see some of those guys that have been bashing Doc all year to come back on here and fess up. On second thought, wait for one more win.

<raises hand>  :P

I've bashed on Doc many a times this season/playoffs.  But I'm eating crow right now.  Even before tonight, he made some very fine adjustments.  The biggest one is Paul switching to guard Kobe.  That changed EVERYTHING.  Even if it was Paul's request, Doc still had to implement it.  By removing the need to double and trap every time, the rest of the C's could stay on their man and LA didn't get so many open shots.  More than any other, this was the counter-move that made the biggest difference, IMHO.

I think Docs style of being a steady calming influance from his experience as a player, and communicator is his strenth he lends to his players; Sure, things are tried, and during the season he developed this bench and has a lot of versitility to try different combinations and find out in the heat of battle what works, small ball for instance etc...

Major props Doc for being instrumental in the development of these egos and talents into a solid team!

he said the right things at half time, and even after looses, the team doesn't get vicious with finger pointing etc... Ubuntu  8)

The foul on Perk on the free-throw box-out had me wondering why I was bothering to watch.

(Glad I stuck with it though)!!!!
