Doc came out with a plan. It was different than what we've seen all playoffs. He stuck with it and it payed off. Phil Jackson couldn't adjust. I can't believe I'm saying this in the NBA FINALS, but Doc Rivers won us this game!

Doc has done a great job out-coaching the Hall-of-Famer. Red would be proud. I would like to see some of those guys that have been bashing Doc all year to come back on here and fess up. On second thought, wait for one more win.

Well, the players won the game.  Doc, however, was phenomenal in the second half.  As good a half as I've ever seen him coach.

The TEAM won us this game, and Doc is a big part of that team, but it wasn't just him .... Celtic heart and determination, and the perseverence to not give up. Doc's adjustments at halftime were awesome ... he totally pegged the weaknesses of the first half, talked the boys up, made rotational changes where they needed to be, and lit a fire under Paul's butt, (and a few others). As it has been all year, when this team plays their game ... as a cohesive unit, they are unbeatable! But to the spirit of this thread, awesome job, Doc ... you gave me some more hope in your abilities tonight ... keep up the great work! Go Celtics!

Oh no Roy, if we are going to give him the blame when we lose, we give him the credit when we win! One great job by Doc in sticking with the game plan, making his players believe it, and getting on the refs in the first half when they were trying to give this game to the Lakers. He made some great substitutions to try and get the momentum swinging back to us and called some great plays out of timeouts. As a Doc supporter all along, I am glad he is getting his due and unless things fall apart a part of #17!

Doc has outcoached Jackson at every turn.

It's time to guive some props to the coach who has coached his butt off against the Phil Jackson in this series. Doc's motivational speeches that have hit the airwaves have been tremendous and worked and has never allowed this team to quit. He has seen the weaknesses in the Lakers and exploited them at every turn as well as every matchup.

And tonight in particular he was brilliant. His going small tonight probably won the series. His switching of Pierce onto Kobe came at the exact right time and Pierce locked him down. He has had subs on the floor at the beginning of the fourth all year and his trust in those players paid off at the beginning of the fourth tonight as he was able to give KG much needed rest.

And I can't say enough about how he has managed to work this team around a strange amount of injuries to one team in one series. He judiciously used Rondo, went with Eddie for the most part but also utilized Sam as well. He has needed to go to a makeshift rotation because of the injuries and they have worked great.

It seems that Doc has just been a step ahead of Jackson all series. Doc has been mattr of factly given the media his view of things while the cery smug and vain Jackson has been condescending and completely surprised at the results and has shown such in his interviews.

Hats off to Doc, great job tonight and in this series and all year long.

Series ends Father's Day and Doc becomes a world champion along with Ray, Paul and Kevin.

I have to say, in his postgame he said he and his coaches talked about how to counter Jackson's trap defences, and he made the call to go to shooters all around. I just love that Jackson made the appropriate adjustment (2 games late, thankfully) to just dare Perk and Rondo to shoot (Rondo's line was surprisingly solid, but from watching, you just knew the offense wasn't clicking), and Doc made the great counter move, and his move trumped the great Jackson's coaching. The players kept heart, which says a lot about them and probably a lot about Doc too, so credit has to be spread around, like Roy said, but man, Doc really put the players into a position to be successful.

Totally agree: not only keep all the players motivated even after being crushed in the first half, but figured out the right 5 to play the 3 and 4 quarters (even putting Tony Allen for a few minutes when posey was in foul trouble was a great move), the right matchups etc...GREAT job!

If Perk and Rondo were 100%, would Doc have stuck with that lineup? :-\

Yup, the players deserve all of the credit in the world for this win...but they don't come out on top if not for some incredibly ballsy calls by Doc.

Tonight he proved that he is a championship caliber coach.

Everything Doc did came up Aces.  It was incredible.  One of the greatest and luckiest coaching performances I've ever seen.

Play Eddie House almost the entire second half?  Never been done all year.  SUCCESS!

Play Tony Allen key minutes despite him being roughly -347 for the playoffs?  Celtics go on a 9-2 run!  SUCCESS!

Go with a small lineup despite the Lakers destroying our small lineup in game 2?  SUCCESS!

i'm [dang] happy that Doc had a good game ...........BUT ......... he finally played Eddie House by neccessity (laker trapping defense, big deficit, cassell hurt and playing horrible).

shoulda been playing Eddie all along  -  Eddie plays for the team, not for himself (cassell). Eddie hustles his ass off, works on defense, and WAITS for his shot - instead of forcing it.

I love Eddie. he may just be a Celtic.
