Ray (after playing EVERY SINGLE MINUTE) still had enough in the tank for 2 huge shots.  The first that ridiculous reverse layup where he hung in the air and slipped it thru 3 Laker defenders and the second the last stake to the heart (for tonight) when he knocked down the lefty layup with 15 seconds left.

Ray took a lot of heat early in the playoffs, but since the DET series he has been unbelievable.

Great game by all the Celtics, but an extra tip of the cap to Ray.

How 'bout a SHOUT OUT for Sugar Ray Jesus Shuttleworth Allen!!!

  • The good ole days.
Thank you Sugar Ray Jesus Shuttleworth Allen!!  You came to this team and sacrificed the most of any player on this team, taking the role of 3rd option, staying quiet when you didn't get your touches, providing huge clutch shots all year, and being the calm, smooth, confident presence that we need under these pressure situations.  You took grief upon all grief for your struggles lately, but kept at it, kept fighting, and have now played 5 straight great games.

Let's hear it for Ray Ray!  He has been the most consistent performer in these finals for the Celtics!  Glad you're here!

and wow... I just noticed that Ray played 48 minutes tonight, and still came up with huge clutch plays down the stretch!

Ray Ray was unbelievable tonight. 48 minutes. That reverse layup in the end was ridiculous. Great, great player.

I agree he's been the most consistent Celtic in the finals. He's played well since the middle of the Detroit series. Shout out to Ray!

Couldn't agree more, TP for the post. Ray may not be happy with the role but he is such a pro and will do whatever is asked of him and do it well and still bail us out with big shots.

Major props for being the steadiest Celtic in the finals. he hasn't had the peaks (Pierce, Powe) as some others, but he also hasn't had the valleys (pierce, kg). Just very good all the time. Perfect. Everyone said he was the only one who showed for game 3, and if either pierce or kg showed up with ray, the game was ours. well today, everyone was late, but ray was there again, and pierce came up huge with his D and KG was great on D and shot .500, and we won.

Ray could keep some of those insane passes (turnovers) to himself, but hell yeah, pay him the money.  Some of our guys were coasting on HIS courage tonight.

That layup at the end was one of the sweetest moments of my sports life.  The "unsung hero" of the Big 3 shined the brightest tonight.  Paul and KG did their thing and did it well during that run, but Ray was the man.  Great stuff, couldn't have happened to a better guy.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Ray-Ray ... Jesus Shuttlesworth ... what can you say? He was the rock tonight ... playing all 48 and anchoring this team with his consistency, defense, attacking the paint, and that sweet, smooth shot ... and that amazing in-flight move under the basket ... that looked like MJ, man! Who's an "old man"?!? Thanks for this one, man ... I'll never forget this game, no matter how this turns out ... love you, Ray!

Sasha looked like a lost child at the mall after that play.  He also took a swing at a water boy on the bench.
