BOSTON -- Boston Celtics backup point guard Sam Cassell left Game 2 of the NBA Finals in the second quarter Sunday night because of a sprained right wrist.

The team said he was expected to return.

Cassell was scoreless in 6 minutes in the first half.

Cassell spraining wrist >>>>> Celtics Game 2 win.

Seriously, I can't stand him. Let him go to Denver or whatever place next season. House will do much better than him in Game 3, and I really like our chances with House.

I really wanted us to get him.  But seriously... he's been pathetic.   I really want to see House get some minutes and contribute.  I feel bad for the guy.  He gave us a ton in the regular season and is kinda on the wrong end of some crap politics right now.   It's unfortunate.

I'm just saying, but Cassell was +11 in the +/- today.

The venom spewed towards this guy is getting ridiculous. Even if he hasn't played well, he has done nothing to warrant this amount of animosity...

what politics are keeping Eddie House off the floor ??

it's just unbelievable to me that he is not getting minutes in these playoffs.

I don't think that +/- is always the best representation of how a player is affecting the game.

He is getting a lot of venom because he dominates the ball and shoots too much never mind a way too confident personality as perceived from our perspective.

He has helped us though these playoffs exactly because he can shoot. He plays ahead of House because House can't bring the ball up under playoff defensive pressure. He many times refers to Pierce, and we all know what then happens. We saw it against Detroit. He is not perfect but he is in my eyes the better of the two because of the above reasons.

He did not hit a shot last night but he played pretty good IMO.

I don't think that +/- is always the best representation of how a player is affecting the game.

He moved the ball quite well last tonight though, plus the mismatch that he creates is a huge advantage because they're removing Kobe from defending other people just so that he can "contain" Cassell. He also was quite effective for the most part in game 1, so as far as the finals go, he has been quite good for us and he'll surely be missed. So, +/- might not always tell the whole story... but it certainly did in Game 2.

He is getting a lot of venom because he dominates the ball and shoots too much never mind a way too confident personality as perceived from our perspective.

But the way I see it he has been nothing but an instrumental figure in the locker room and in practice, the experiment has failed for the most part on the court through the playoffs, but lets not discount the impact he has had in other places. I think Doc pretty much has Cassell coaching Rondo so he can focus on other things. Pierce also credited Cassell for the way he went off on LeBron. He's been cheering the team on even when he hasn't played... other than taking ill advised shots, he hasn't been as selfish as most of the board has made him out to be and that's from where my comment mainly stems. No reason to wish ill will towards a guy simply because he hasn't played well.

Don't worry.

He sprained his passing wrist...not his shooting wrist.

It won't affect his game at all.  ;D

i do not wish injury on him, but if this injury lasted another few weeks, it would not devastate me.

i am not here to bury sam, but i really think we have reached the point where there is 1 person in the USA who feels he deseves minutes, and unfortunayely, his vote is the only one who counts.

what politics are keeping Eddie House off the floor ??

After the game, they showed Doc walking down the tunnel to the locker room.  Who was next to him, practically holding his hand?  Sam.

There's definitely some politicking going on, and it's too bad, because Eddie is the much better player.  By far, the Sam decision is Doc's worst one of the playoffs.  We're winning, so it hasn't mattered much, but it really doesn't make a lot of sense.

Going back to the second half of Game 2 against Cleveland, Sam is 7-for-41.  That's 17.0%, and yet Eddie can't sniff the court.

maybe there's a small chance we see eddie in now? doubtful, but he's deserving of a place.

i think one of the reasons the c's have been prone to late game comebacks has been the big minutes of starters. i do not believe rondo sat in the 2nd half last night. no reason eddie cannot give the c's a few minutes, especially if sam is down. we saw what a spark he could be in the cavs series.
