After the game, they showed Doc walking down the tunnel to the locker room.  Who was next to him, practically holding his hand?  Sam.

He plans to be a coach. So he tries to learn a few things.

Sure.  But there's no doubt in my mind that Sam's butt-kissing / politicking is the only reason he's getting minutes over Eddie.

If I told you there was a player who:

* was shooting 17% over the last 13 1/2 games;
* played no defense; and
* rarely passed the ball,

would you be recommending him to get steady and consistent playing time?

Re-injured his wrist?

Wasn't his wrist already hurt?

Hopefully he'll be out for Game three and Eddie will get some run.

His first possession was a shot and he clanged his three. If he's not making shots, he's pretty much useless.

He did have a nice look to Pierce on the fastbreak three.

Hopefully that will be the end of Sam Gagne's run with the Celts.  Eddie's minutes now have fallen right into Doc's lap.  Even if Sam dresses, I believe Eddie is better than Sam if they are both 100%, Sam won't be so now I definitely think Eddie will be the better backup PG.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I agree,ive said this before...Sam is always running up/kissing up to Doc.On the otherhand,it is hurting House's chances of getting into the game.I want to see House get a chance,can't play any worse than Cassell has at times.TP for you Roy!

WHOO HOOO!!!!! IS HE OUT?  CAN WE SIT HIM FOR THE REST OF THE SERIES?  CAN WE SEND HIM TO ANOTHER COUNTRY TO GET IT LOOKED AT?  CAN WE TRADE HIM BACK TO THE CLIPPS?

JK, I like Sam, but he needs to be benched for the rest of the series.  He hasn't done AWFUL, but I would like to see Eddie match up against the likes of Farmar and hound him to death.

I really wanted us to get him.  But seriously... he's been pathetic.   I really want to see House get some minutes and contribute.  I feel bad for the guy.  He gave us a ton in the regular season and is kinda on the wrong end of some crap politics right now.   It's unfortunate.

Seems to me he was pretty good in 2nd Quarter of Game 1. Not sure which game you guys were watching.  No he hasn't been as good as advertised, but he hasn't been as horrible as some seem to think.  Fisher would eat Eddie alive on the press btw.

Sam has had about two good quarters out of the last 13 1/2 games.  Literally.

Yes, he was pretty bad most of the time against Detroit (and prior to that), but he played decent in game 1 against LA (especially in the first half), and I think he played one of his best games of the year in game 2.

I really got the feeling that Doc got to him before game 2 to remind him that against this team, they need to execute the offense better and move the ball well if they are going to score.  So when he was in there in game 2, the offense didn't miss a beat, and he ran it perfectly.

The "Sammy" factor is one of the last pieces/problems of this team that needs to be resolved. After all that happened last night, I'm absolutely stunned that Eddie didn't play, and that total waste of precious playoff court-time: Sam Cassell, was in once again, pounding the ball and wasting time. And while, thank goodness, he didn't seem to be looking for his shot, his energy was completely counter-productive to what the team was trying to do, and one of the few times last night where the Lakers seemed to have an edge.

I honestly thought that Doc had come to his senses and was ready to give House some minutes, and I would like, no ... love, to know why the heck it's not happening. It's truly baffling and actually detrimental to how successful we are in these playoffs, and while we and almost all of the media keep calling for Eddie, or at least an explanation as to why he's not on the floor, Doc continues to ignore good decisions for the sake of his favoritism for "veterans", and the longer it goes on, the less and less sense it makes.

We've seen the incredible lapse in judgement that not playing Leon has been by last night's "pimping" performance, and Eddie is a talent just as important as Leon, who can contribute significantly and give this team another perimeter threat, that's being wasted and ignored for reasons that completely elude me. Please, please, please, Doc ... get off the "veteran advantage" kick and put Eddie in the game .... instead of wasting time with a guy who's not producing. How can you not play a guy with so much heart and hustle, who, like Leon, gives 110% every time he's on the floor, and brings energy and momentum with him off the bench?

It's truly bizarre, and just when we start playing well, in comes Sam, again, and down goes the energy and tempo, and up goes my heart into my throat, and back come the Lakers into the game. Of all the explanations I've seen put forth here, none have made concrete sense, or enough sense to justify this absolutely incongruous lack of judgement. As another such seemingly nonsensical decision, why in the world would you take Leon, one of the hottest players on the floor, and the guy who's adding the energy and spark we need, and sit him on the bench for the remainder of the game?!? Sorry, but these questions need to be answered ... they're blatantly irrational and counter-productive, at the most important time in the recent history of this team.

No matter what else he's is responsible for, a coach's number one duty, is to put his team in the best position to win .... to give them the necessary tools to do their job successfully, and while Doc has done a good job overall, (for the most part), these obvious quandries need to be addressed. To think that a coach is making such decisions based on his personal feelings for a guy who's been a "buddy", or that he's got some kind of blind faith in this guy who keeps NOT producing on the floor, is maddening to say the least. Eddie needs to be played, and Sam needs to sit ... period. And this Celtics Nation needs a concrete explanation as to why this is not happening.

I really want to have faith in our coach, because all this makes for a lot of insecurity and conjecture, but how the heck can we not feel uneasy when he continues to do things that make no sense? And please, don't give me the "Doc is above criticism" crap, or the "He's doing great, just look at the record, so back off" garbage. This question is screaming to be answered, and how does anyone know how much better we could be possibly playing if Doc was giving this team the best tools with which to do just that? Eddie should be playing, and if he's not being played, we should have an understandable, solid explanation as to why. Hopefully this wrist thing will make him put Eddie on the floor, but being forced to play House is not the correct reasons for doing it, and this kind of stuff threatens to continue to undermine Doc's ability to be trusted to make the best decisions for this team.

Other than that ... I love the guy!  ;)

Once again none of you guys look at the main  reason he is playing over House. Do you all forget House bringing the ball up against Linsey Hunter?
PP began to bring it up and that was even worse. Eddie House has a real dribbling problem against constant pressure. Every possession is vital. As cruel as it is to House, whom I love as well, that is the way it is. We lead the finals 2-0, so Doc is doing ok so far.

There is no Hunter in this series.

And Fisher's on ball defense is excellent so you'd be asking Eddie to bring it up against one of the league's best in that area of the game.  Sam ain't perfect and he's definitely not the long range solution, but for the here and now, he's the best option on the roster.

Well, this is the excuse Doc needed to weasel Cassell out for the rotation - without offending anyone.

...It's OK to pull the plug now Doc!
