Next excuse (for after tonight's loss): Kobe tore a fingernail this morning and couldn't get in touch with his manicurist with it being Sunday and all, (and how could he possibly shoot well with a torn fingernail?).

Niiiice!

Hey, so what if it might be slightly taken out of context; We're bloggers not sports journalist, who BTW have all but handed the Fakers and The Koby rings and the trophy already. 'Bout time our team and we too draw our own context to the proceedings.

That snake is going to have to expend a ton of energy on the D game long, least he be canceled out on his own production by Ray & Pierce. Which BTW I agree, 35 points on 45 shots sounds like a losing effort to be expected from that snake!

Let's give Jackson his due. People said the same kind of stuff about KC Jones - that it was just the players. Heard an interview with Hubie Brown, and obviously he has a coaches bias, but his description of defense and strategy, it just seems like coaches play a big role in a team's success. Which is why Doc should be getting the credit he deserves, and Jackson as well...
Now, on to 18...

meh our defensive coach can't be that effective against Kobe... we were giving him "bunnies" all night.  Haven't you heard?  Kobe's foaming at the mouth at the thought of getting those "bunnies" again.

I love it, TP for you!  Hey, Kobe has plenty of good looks, they just went in and out.  Basically, the Lakers won game 1, but no one knows it because the balls bounced a little different than they should have and because Paul is a good actor.

One game and the comments afterward by coach and players are not enough to make me think Jackson is overrated, though.  The trick will be making sure all this stuff doesn't get inside the *Celtics* head and to keep an eye on Phil's interactions with the refs.  Like Kobe, Phil gets a lot of respect, and will look to get more fouls called when Kobe has the ball on offense.

Anyone know who the refs are tonight?
Celtics fan for life.

Are you sure this wouldn't be Odom, after trying to scratch Pierce around the neck?

Can't wait to hear the excuses after the next loss:

..... the equipment manager still can't find the container with all their lucky jockstraps.

..... there were way too many bald guys in the audience and it was causing an annoying glare on the court.

..... they couldn't sleep last night because there were too many people in the hotel making noise.

..... they ate a bunch of poisoned lobsters.

..... the Garden's backboard glass is harder than the one in the Staples Center and it's causing bad bounces.

..... they are afraid of Gino.

..... they were all still hung over from the "Lakers win it in a Sweep" celebration party.

..... they thought league rules forbid the other team from playing defense.

..... it's not fair, the Celtics head coach is way too good.

..... everyone on the team except Kobe, of course, played horribly.

..... Phil Jackson's "Scottie Pippen isn't walking through that door. Shaquille O'Neal isn't walking through that door. Michael Jordan isn't walking through that door." pep talk backfired.
