This is a call to the Boston Celtics faithful rocking the Garden every game night.
Old fans, new fans, bandwagon fans, everyone who's there.
We're asking you give what you can to help the C's give Paul Pierce the ring that he deserves.
We're asking for your voice to join togethor in chanting

Ali, Boma Ye!

Anyone paying attention knows that Doc Rivers has been showing these Celtics footage of Muhammad Ali's fight against George Foreman in Zaire as inspiration. While training for that fight Ali had won the loyalty of the people of Zaire, they would chant "Ali, Boma Ye!"
while he trained, while he ran.

(This is Will Smith in "Ali" , but it faithfully recreated from the actual footage shown in "When We Were Kings")

(Go to 1:08 in the video)

What better way to let the Celtics know they're not alone than chanting:

Ali, Boma Ye!

When Foreman stopped Ali cold with his skill and force, Ali turned to the crowd for the strength and will to go on. It's a different day and a different place, but the Celtics do no less when they looked to the Boston crowd to provide the home court advantage that has served them well. Ali won that fight with defense and heart and so will the Big Three with your help.

(Go to 1:40 and 4:50 if you must skip the rest of this video, but I urge you not to do so)

You are that advantage.
Remind them by chanting "Ali, Boma Ye!"
during this NBA finals.
Don't stop chanting when Kobe drains a silky jumper and a hush falls over the crowd, Don't stop chanting when the Celtics miss a shot, Don't stop chanting when the Celts stumble, that's when you need to yell louder.

Ali, Boma Ye!

Your throat may not know the words that come forth
Your ears my not recognize the strange sound
But I promise you they will know and understand

Some of us can't say we were there for Bird or Russell, but in a generation, you can say you were here, and you can say you were part of this. That while you never touched the ball, you still played your part in raising another banner to the rafters.

Please Sunday night at the Garden, join togethor chanting:

Ali, Boma Ye!

well your intent is good, but it doesn't make any sense to chant "Ali bomaye!" in a Celtic game.  It means: "Ali, kill him!"...   why would fans chant that in a Celtic game?  Lol.   Sorry, that's kinda silly.   Maybe "Celtics bomaye!"... but what's the plural for bomaye?  Otherwise, People will just assume "him" is Kobe.  That's a little rough.  Wait, why exactly are we supposed to be chanting in the dialect of the Zairois anyways?

Maybe chanting "U-Bun-Tu" might work... but then a lot of people at home might be wondering why we're chanting for a desktop/server operating system...

Wait I got it...

We can chant "Beat LA!"

Thanks LB ... I didn't want to be the one to point out the obvious incongruity with this. It's great that people want to chant and support the team, but it might be best to do it with words and language that has something to do with the Celtics. Somehow I don't think the C's are going to get too excited if the fans are chanting for Ali and not them. Great meaning ... wrong message. TP to matteo for his well-meaning post, though.

no it's a nice thought.  But it would be the equivalent of the Boston fans chanting "ROCKY!  ROCKY!  ROCKY!" in the middle of a finals game against the Lakers.

"Beat LA!" will work nice enough.  And it's relevant.

Here's one the Celtics will DEFINITELY understand as well. It's a call-and-response cheer. One "instigator" shouts, and the crowd chants the response.

Call: "Celtics!"
Resp: "Hoo-ah!"

In the corridor before the came, Paul Pierce calls it and the whole team responds. I think "Ubuntu" comes at the end, but crowd chants have to be kept simple. This is a genuine Celtics chant. It's beautifully simple. It speaks directly to the team.
