So I tested my Presumption on my two Celtic-fan friends without telling them that I was testing them and it rang true.  The results also support the Rondo Corollary.  Transcripts below:

Me:   who's your favorite celtic?
Friend X:   pierce money
Friend X:   then rondo

Me:   who do you find yourself pulling for the most?
Friend Y:   pierce and rondo
Me:   well you qualify for die hard status
Friend Y:   i think i get the most joy out of seeing rondo succeed

I'm just a celticsblogger.  We gonna blog on a sock, we gonna blog on a sock.

I go back and forth on the Kobe MVP chant, yeah I've heard the take that it was just Lakers fans who got tickets because the team was so bad, but what if it was reflective of something else - the love of the game and the league?

I was only 8 or so, but didn't the Garden fans chant "Beat LA" when the 6ers were about to beat the C's in the Eastern Finals? (just got confirmation of this on Boston.com) Could the MVP chant be something along those lines? I wouldn't have done it, but I'm not sure that it makes any C's fans who did lesser fans... except for the fact that I just dislike Kobe so much.

I also have a hard time claiming that I'm somehow a bigger fan than someone else. I mean it is uncomfortable when someone is clearly posing, but I know people who have been casual fans over the years and then show much more interest when the team is winning. I think if someone is honest about their interest, I'm all for them hopping on for the ride. It's when they act as if they've always been there when they haven't.

I mean, how many of us abandoned the Bruins? I know I did!!! I used to watch those Saturday matinee games on TV 38 (remember when they used to show unedited Horror films on the movie loft?) and Pete Peters' was the only sweater I'd wear. Now? Well, I watched a few playoff games this year, but I couldn't name more than 5 players!

I never did leave the C's, I wonder why... I mean I've watched some awful teams over the last 20 years but I always watch... Could it be I just like basketball more? I mean I'm delusional, each year I keep thinking, Yeah, they've got a shot, the East is weak and ...

Now, on to 18...

There are no more Celtic die-hards left.  The Celtic fans from 20-30 years ago are dead.  The new crop of Celtic fans are the ones who were chanting "MVP" for Kobe last year in the garden.  Like Mike Bibby said, you are all bandwagons.

Do Lakers fans forget that they booed Kobe Bryant during the first game of the season at the Staples Center? YEAHHH great fans over there in L.A. I cant remember a time when anyone in Boston booed their best player during a game. Laker fan since 1980? nobody cares. 16 rings and counting...
