REGULAR SEASON STATS DONT MATTER!!!

As I said elsewhere, Kobe's career stats in playoffs are almost identical to his career stats in the regular season.  To the extent that they're different, those stats actually *decrease*.  I'm not sure why you seem to have this opinion that Kobe is some sort of messiah in the playoffs, but he's the same player he always is, and I see no reason to assume that players who have shown an extended amount of success against him in the past couldn't continue to do the same in the post-season.

true they were on different teams, but the talent level on those two teams were pretty even. That means Gasol and KG were the best players on evenly matched teams and KG as you can see by the stats and 10-4 team record dominated Pau

One are that it matters is psychologically.  Players know when they are playing against someone that is better than them, that takes it to them on the regular, and it can stick in the back of their minds and come out in how they play. 

Likewise, if a player believes that they can play against a particular opponent and have a decade of proof to that effect, it should help them be confident on this big stage.

KG may very well have that edge on Odom and/or Gasol, but looking at their histories it seems unlikely that Kobe would have that same edge on Ray and/or Pierce.

What was Kobe's DNA like when he was choking it up his rookie year?  Did his DNA just morph into a winner's suddenly when Shaq arrived?  The KG "loser stuff" is so tiresome and overrated. Talk like this is EXACTLY why KG & Pierce will not be denied.  They're so close they can taste it and they will not miss this chance.  And once they do win maybe we'll have to recheck their DNA and see if someone secretly replaced it with Folgers crystals or something.

THat is absolutely ridiculous. Kobe is a winner but every time he had come close to winning he is surrounded with a couple all stars or another superstar. In Kevin Garnetts case he has done the best he can with his supporting cast. WHen his supporting cast was remotely good, spreewell and cassel, his team won the west, but he never had a supporting cast like kobe. I belive that in clutch situations it is much harder for big men to score because of the more agressive play down low. Let see how the fakers handle paul pierce and ray ray in the final minutes.

you obviously haven't watched the celtics in the playoffs this year. In game 1 of the Cleveland series he had the game winning shot with 20 seconds left. Then in game 7 when Paul Pierce scored 41 he actually didn't score a FG in the final 5 minutes of that game, KG made 2 big shots in the final 5 minutes. KG has been the most consistent player  on the celtics this post-season with 18 good games out of 20 played .

yeah Gasol never even won a playoff game before this season, he got swept 3 straight years.

Yeah, Gasol had been decidedly mediocre in the playoffs previously, especially in terms of rebounding.

KG, on the other hand, has had several absolutely dominant playoffs.  I mean, in three consecutive seasons he put up 24.0/18.7/5.0, 27.0/15.7/5.2, and 24.3/14.6/5.1.  Another year, he almost averaged a triple-double (18.8/10.8/8.8 ).  While Memphis may be able to blame their past struggles on Pau's inability to come through in the clutch, there's no way Minnesota could have asked for more from KG than they got.
