PJ stepped up in place of Perkins though. Good signing.

Ticket needs to be aggressive like he was in the first half. Ray played well.
Hope Paul is all right.

TPs for all.

  • Basketball is like chess, only without the dice
Our defense played very poorly in the 2nd quarter. What was that with the pick'n'roll?? Torrid.

Epic series in the making.

One other thing: That was a posterior kicking on the backboards. The Lakers are going to have to get that fixed.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Hello??????

I don't blame them Redz, it's time for them to stay quiet for a few (and freak out on their own blogs!).

now some of you youngsters finally get a little taste of what it's really like to be a Celtics fan.

i have never been a believer in Paul Pierce, but he did show me something tonite. not just coming back from the injury, but simply coming up big in a playoff game that really mattered - and just when the Celts needed him most. i felt it slipping away a little in the 3d quarter.

very proud of the Celts taking control of the 4th quarter and not letting the Lakers get back to even.

the Celts outrebounded the Lakers tonite, but [dang], it seemed like we worked very hard on defense on a lot of possessions, only to let LA scoot out with an offensive rebound. i really want to see us grind them into dust on the boards in this series.

i love watching the Boston Celtics playing aggressive, physical basketball again. does my heart good.

let's stay hungry for game 2 guys. come out aggressive.

Go Celtics !!
Let's Get # 17 !!

The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Thank God.  They were entertaining for about a day, maybe two.  They helped me get even more fired up for the series.  But when they throw the ball up and get going I wanna be talking with my people, not the Fakers fans.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

But I would love to see some House in the house.

I agree ... seemed like that game was just screaming for some Eddie and his three-point threat ... especially when Sam launched those bricks! Leon barely got going as well, and had a positive contribution despite how few minutes he had.

Watching the Comcast post-game show right now, and Ryan Russillo is saying to Dickerson that Pierce was faking when he hurt his knee ... what a bunch of crap! Russillo makes a fool out of himself every time he opens his stupid mouth!

First of all, why would a Boston sportscaster think the C's would stoop to such pettiness, and secondly, even if he thought it, why would he say such a thing on air? Really poor reporting and a major lack of loyalty.

Great win, though ... the boys dug in when they had to and shut Kobe down in the fourth. Gasol was pretty much useless trying to stop Garnett, and I think that match-up is going to be huge ... and favor us!

Go Celtics!

Just got home from the game.

A few thoughts:

1) What an atmosphere:  Garden was rockin' tonight.  Great crowd chants and place was fully energized.  This goes up there among the greatest sporting events I've attended.  Amazing.

2) Pierce:  Game for the ages.  Just gutting his way through obvious pain in that 2nd half.  Huge 3 pointers and just an inspiration.  This guy has been my favorite Celtic through all these years and tonight just re-affirms why I love #34.

3) Defense & Rebounding:  2nd half defense really clamped down and the rebounding was fairly solid tonight.  Awfully proud of PJ Brown.  Gutsy effort in the paint and was able to misdirect shots and grab some key rebounds.

4) KG:  Heckuva first half and a monster with his interior defense.  That putback dunk was a statement and ellicited a humongous crowd reaction.  Place was shaking.

Just an epic Game 1.

PJ Brown was great

I say we re-sign him. Give him the minimum or a little over, wish him a merry christmas, tell him he has to report to Waltham by March 1st.
