Lakers got their pace the last 5 minutes or so...Momentum shifted on Posey's botched breakaway

Gotta PP involved and brace ourselves for Kobe
Yup

Perk's grade for the 1st half, F.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

How do you leave Radmonovic THAT wide open for a 3?  That's awful defense.  We need to make some adjustments and step up the defensive effort in the second half.  Lakers are in a great position to win this one on the road.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

PP, Ray and Perkins are all not in this game. KG and Rondo are the only reason we're so close, because the defense stinks!

well spurs were up by 20+ in game 1 until Kobe started trying... so I'm not liking the fact we are down by 5 with Kobe in neutral.

You know the Lakers are playing amazingly when Kobe was the worst player on the court in that first half.

The biggest difference right now seems to be that they're making open shots and we're not.  If nobody is in your face, knock it down!

Pierce really needs to get it going.  If he doesn't get more aggressive and knock jumpshots down, we can't win this game.

Aha. One of the most underrated rappers. Well, I think we could've played a lot better late in the 2nd quarter. We should be up right now. We gotta play the defense we've played our year. We're not looking like the best defense in the league right now.

A few thoughts:

1. I agree defensively. The intensity dipped markedly in the second quarter. We can't like the shoddy work by Perkins and the other bigs against the pick and roll. The thing you have to really hate is we've controlled Bryant, and cut our own throats by giving up easy shots to role players. The latter HAS to stop.

2. Not enough touches for the Ticket on the block. Gasol cannot stop him. Odom doesn't want to defend inside either. GET THE BALL ON THE BLOCK. We have a HUGE advantage in the paint against a surprisingly woeful inside LA defense.

3. More ball pressure.

4. Get Pierce involved early in the third.

how many layups and putbacks have we missed? that's horrible. And where's the D on the pick and roll?

That was so bad it was funny .... Kobe was dribbling the ball 40 feet from the rim, hadn't even made a move, and already the Celtics defenders had sagged off their men so badly that Radmanovic got a wide open three pointer. Lucky the C's didn't get punished, Radmanovic shoots 40+% from downtown, very good shooter.

Bad portents. Too many looks for Gasol. C's not sharp from outside and getting blocked inside. Ray struggling again. 3 fouls on PP. Rebounding well. Need to see more Powe, maybe more Same/Eddie.

I'm a bit disappointed ... this is how we've played almost every other second quarter in the playoffs ... the offense stopped attacking and the defensive intensity disappeared. I'm upset that we haven't stepped it up any from last series ... and Paul has done very little. Not a good 2nd quarter at all. C'mon, Celtics ... this is the Finals, man ... step it up 2 or 3 notches!!
