Being on very late at night, (or early in the morning, as it were), I'm noticing a complete flood of what I assume is Lakers fans, (because of many of the ID names and the late hour), jumping on to infiltrate our ranks. I find it a bit interesting, and though I should have expected it logically, I'm amazed that they are as bold and ravenous about their fan-hood as we are, (well ... not quite as ravenous).

Anyway, I thought this might be a good time and place to give them a welcome, and give them a place to discuss the impending doom of their team, and vent a bit of frustration over what must certainly be a frightening prospect awaiting them in the Finals. So, welcome, Lakers fans ... we look forward to the upcoming battle! May you have as much fun as we're having, and may you not despair too much in being so ruthlessly vanquished!

Please feel free to vent below ... we look forward to a little pre-series verbal sparring!

Well said, Bahku, and seconded on my part.  As I wrote to Steez over in the "Laker Fan Here" thread, we've had several opposing fans around the site -- particularly throughout the playoffs thus far -- and for the ones who have come in search of semi-meaningful dialogue rather than for mere trolling purposes, it's been a pleasure.  While you'll be our worst enemy on game nights, it never hurts to have informed perspectives from the other side on hand.

As Celtic warned in another thread, the trolls that may be among you will learn soon enough about the presence of the great Roy Hobbs and his crew of diligent moderators.  But for the rest of you, welcome aboard, and good luck this round.  Now go green!

Ground rules for Celticsbloggers in regard to Lakers fans:

1) Treat them with respect, please.  Lakers fans are allowed to come on here and argue the merits of their team, and so long as they do so within the rules of this site, they are welcome here and will be protected by the staff as much as Celtics fans.  (Ugh...  defending Lakers fans.  It kind of curdles the stomach, doesn't it? ;))

2) Good-natured banter is okay, and please, argue vigorously.  Do not, however, cross a line; we expect you to act civilly.  The *last* thing the staff wants to do is to suspend anybody these next two weeks.

3) Please report the trolls.  The staff will be on the lookout, but rather than responding to baiting -- which only gets you in trouble -- please just ignore them and report them to the staff.  Chances are somebody is going to be online to take care of them.

4) Enjoy the series!  I never thought I'd see another one Lakers/Celtics series again.  This is as good as it gets in the NBA!

===========================================================================

To the Lakers fans:

1) Welcome aboard.  It's good to have more passionate, if wrong-minded, fans on the site.

2) Please read our Posting Rules.  Things are enforced pretty tightly here, but the most important rules is "respect others at all times".  If you do that, you'll be fine here.

3) Please do not troll or bait.  The first example of such behavior will result in a ban.  Inevitably, that will happen with a few of you (as it did in the Pistons series) but we're all hopeful it doesn't have to.

4) Prepare yourself to be traumatized.  That has very little to do with Celticsblog, and much more to do with the Celtics.  The entire world seems to be underestimating this team, and you're about to get a hurting.

===========================================================================

Let's make this as fun as possible, guys!  It doesn't get too much better as an internet sports fan.  Hopefully, a new generation of sports fans is about to learn why this is the greatest rivalry in basketball!

I hear you, Steve ... plus, you never know what kind of "tidbits" we might pick up along the way!  ;) It should definitely liven the place up a bit, having the enemy in our camp, so to speak. Remember, we have the best defense in the NBA, so choose your words carefully!

Thanks for the rules reminder, too, Roy ... I agree that respect and decency should be awarded even the most rival of Lakers fans, (however difficult it may be!). Man ... that will be good practice for me and my distaste for everything Lakers!

This means war.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I'm trying to feel the love.  But really, how could you root for Rambis even if he was wearing your teams uniform?

Yes indeed wdleehi...The hell with cranking up the heat on the locker room, the Celtics staff ought to work on secretly replacing the Lakers shorts with the tighty yellows again.

What on earth were they thinking that game?  Some memories are best left forgotten.  The tight shorts definitely belong on Richard Simmons, not in the NBA!

ps - has anyone actually seen that movie?

Yup

Yep.

Mildly entertaining, has some quasi-ABA history to it.  It's a Will Farrell vehicle, so what you see is what you get.  Worth the rental, but I wouldn't buy it.

Welcome Fakers Lans, I mean, Lakers Fans.

With that said, here's hoping your team doesn't score a single point in the next 4 games. And remember: 8-2 when it counts, 2-0 so far this season.

p.s. - The Kevin Pittsnogle's wedding photo ;D ;D ;D Priceless.
