What the Lakers win means for the Celtics

Did anyone else get nervous watching the young, vigorous Lakers, where their entire bench is productive and under 30, led by MVP Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson, dismantle the Spures. . . .

I am not nervous, because I have predicted the Lakers to win the championship from the beginning of the playoffs.  I despise Chris Wallace.  I still cannot believe that trade.

What this win means is that the Celtics need to take care of business in Game 6.  We can't go into a series with the Lakers with them getting a lot more rest than us.

That said, before the playoffs began I liked the match up.  After watching the playoffs unfold I think a series versus the Lakers would be extremely tough.  I think PG and bench play would do us in but I hope to be proven wrong.

More annoyed because they got Pau and gave up basically nothing to get him also Kobe is a great player and nobody can deny that but the way he acted this summer by pouting and whining really makes me not want the Lakers to do well. Of course that is not to be.

Nah ... Kobe actually has trouble with Pierce ... he's one of the few players in the NBA who rattles him, for some reason. I also think our bench matches up well with theirs, and if KG is on, (which he usually is), you can pretty much negate Gasol. If the C's play their best, there's honestly no one that can beat them ... and that's where the problem lies.

They have a difficult time sustaining that high level of play, and they're truly their own worst enemy, as we've witnessed in these playoffs. This whole thing is up to them, and if they do their best, they'll be fine. I think this question's a bit premature, though ... let's get past the Pistons first, then worry about the Lakers.

We have very good match ups with the Lakers. Ray Allen plays Kobe as well as anyone, for some strange reason. But it doesn't mean anything until we beat the Pistons.

Finals isn't supposed to start till 6/5, which would give us 3 days off after game 7 if it goes that far.

This game will ignite paul pierce alot. He was a big fan of the lakers when he was young and i'm sure he wants to play against them in the finals. On the flip coin it also gives the pistons more incentive to play better since if they reach the finals they can definitely play the lakers well(they won it all against them after all in 2004)

The Spurs were the better matchup for the Celtics. The C's are exactly the type of team that bothers San Antonio, like Dallas a few years ago except with more firepower.

The Lakers are on an odd one. There's no head-to-head form book because they didn't play after the Gasol deal which obviously changes everything. Perkins and Pierce look like the early keys to the series.

What do you think of the Lakers defense? Will it bother the C's? Their defensive weakness is in the interior. Their defense in the backcourt is excellent. Then they're full on long active players who play strong help defense. Not many, if any, defenses like LA in the league.
