Ray's 3 is "shot" at the moment.  As Ray himself will attest, the key to his shooting is his legs. His legs are very tired. It is tough to break a slump when you are primarily a 3 point shooter and your legs are tired.  He should work on closer shots, 15-18 feet. The Celtics should create picks for him off these spots. Get his confidence back from this range. Then the 3 will start falling again.

i like the idea of Ray working on closer shots, and one idea to encourage this is having Ray in the game at the same time as House (I guess I am arguing that House should come off the bench for Rondo instead of Cassell).  House can be the 3pt threat.
Celtics fan for life.

If in fact his problem is that his legs are very tired the only solution I can see is rest him. Let's face it, if he's to tired to hit his shots or come close to defending Rip, perhaps he needs a game off. Start Posey since at this point he's shooting better and could only be a better defender at this point. Bring Tony Allen or House in off the bench.
I'm only suggesting this change is in fact because he has tired legs. That would give him 3 days rest and hopefully he would be well rested for the rest of the playoffs.

the only problem with that theroy is that he's the only defender right now staying with rip.

he's actually doing quite well against rip on defense, and busting his tail to stay with him.

I don't think his legs are tired, otherwise he'd find it harder to sprint 3 miles a night with rip, i think he's just out of synch.

I was thinking they could use him as a Combo guard. He has enough size to go against Chauncey, especially with Chauncey limping. This would put him more of a position to attack the rim and get closer shots and let Posey be the 3pt threat. It would mean modifying the substitutions so Rondo comes out and Posey in and Allen slides to the PG spot earlier. Then you'd bring back Rondo when Chauncey goes out and let Hunter try and pressure Rondo.

Play him through it. He'll figure it out.

Ray's still finding ways to contribute out there. He still deserves his tick. His shot will come back.

I would think the best way to fix Ray Allen is to tell him to continue shooting.  Now, that's risky and will create turnovers, which could cost us the game.  But, we may not win this series without Ray Allen.  A good offense can help him out a lot, but our offense isn't running too well right now.  And we're playing the second-best defensive team in the NBA!  So yeah, this is a tough dilemma to have.

I'm inclined to agree with celts55.  Maybe we should start James Posey.  I don't think it could hurt, considering James has size and plays better defense.  So, if Ray's not knocking down shots, then James is a better choice.  I would also like to see what Powe can do.  Maybe him and Kendrick can get us some points at the paint.
