Let say your Doc Rivers and your about to coach in one of the biggest games of your life.  Chances are if your team lose tonight your pretty much done for the season.  So what are you doing to do in order to give your team the best chance of winning tonight game?

If I was Doc Rivers I would already have my game plan outline.  I would already know who I'm going to play and for how long.  I'm not going with feel but with guys who I think will give me the best chance to win tonights ball game. My first objective going into the game,is to get the ball inside to KG early and often. With that said here is my line-up.

Starting-Line up

Perkins, KG, Pierce, Allen and Rondo

Rest:Perkins,KG and Allen with 3 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. Replace them with Powe, Brown and Posey

Start of the 2nd quarter: Bring back KG and Allen, rest Pierce and Rondo
Line-up to start 2nd quarter: KG, Powe, Posey, Allen and Cassell

Play Sam for about 2 minutes see how he does. If he's off put Rondo back in the game.

Try to finish up this 1st half strong bring Paul and Perk back into the game at the 6 minute mark.  Hopefully nobody is in serious foul trouble.

In the 2nd half go with the same outline as I had in the first half depending on score and foul trouble.

Regular starting lineup.

Pull Perkins and Pierce at the 5 min mark.

Insert PJ and Posey

Pull Rondo at the 2 min mark.  Insert Cassell

start of 2nd

Ray and KG out.  Pierce and Perk in.

9 min mark

Rondo in, Cassell out.

7 min mark

KG and Ray in, PJ and Posey out.  Finish half.

2nd half, if up, keep same rotation.

If down, decrease the amount of time Pierce, KG and Rondo have on bench.

PG Rondo 38 min, Cassell 10
SG Ray 38 min, Pierce 10
SF Pierce 28 min, Posey 20
PF KG 38 min, PJ 10
C  Perk 38 min, PJ 10.

I seen this thread title and thought "if only"

Cassell likely would not see the light of day if it were me.

There would be more Powe and I would not be afraid to get a technical for my team and let the refs no I'm not happy. In other words you wouldn't see me walk away with a false smile and a look on my face that says "Oh my they just won't listen to me"

The starters would play in conjunction with P.J. Brown and Eddie House throughout the 4th quarter.

There would be absolutely no period of sluggish going through the actions
syndrome either.

Adendum: Posey would get meaningful minutes in the 4th also!

Since this team plays the best when it needs a win, I would have forefited the first 3 games of each series...ha ha
Back to wanting Joe fired.

This is pretty close to my ideal as well.  Obviously it can be affected by foul trouble, but in general, I think this is what they should be shooting for (although, unless they were up by like 20, I would have Pierce, Garnett and Rondo play an extra 2-3 minutes in the second half.

Not a bad rotation except for the Cassell part. Insert House and that's not bad. Insert Little House before you insert Cassell in fact...

I would give Cassell one more chance, because House was no more effective in the first two games, and at least Cassell can get the ball over halfcourt.  But you will be able to tell if Cassell doesn't have it pretty quickly, and if he doesn't, they should yank him.

Having House in has put to much pressure on Pierce.  He has to both get the ball up the court and be the main scorer.  Lead to to many TOs.

Yup, thats why I give the nod to Cassell first.  But if he isn't hitting his shots, it might be worth give House a try.

My starting team would be:

 Perkins
KG -  Pierce
House - Rondo

Ray Allen would be given a big "shape up or ship out" sign and would definitely need to show his worth as the 6th man and bring in his A-game.  I think we need to try to speed up the game against Detroit and put out a frisky team with House and Rondo being hyper active.  I would keep Cassell away from enterting the game at any point and just try to keep up the spirit as it was in the regular season......about time things happened!

Pierce and KG will have to play 40 minutes tonight in my opinion.
Also, they both better play most of the 4th quarter if its a close game. I hope to see Ray Allen shooting well, but if we can tell early on that it will be another one of those games, id bring in Posey very fast.
I want to see less of cassell and more of house. Id like to see about 8-10 minutes from Powe tonight also. Dont let Perk get fouled out with 5 minutes left.. thatd be nice.
Be physical. if youre going to foul them down low. FOUL THEM HARD. Not flagrents, but make them scared to drive to the hoop. No touch fouls down low please...

For game six, I might go to the bench more to try to wear on the Detriot Pistons. Truth be told, we were very lucky to win tonight because the Celtics were absolutely dead in the water until Ray Allen hit his biggest basket in his career and rescue the Celtics from the worst choking job in their history.
Wins are few, times are hard. Here is your bleeping St Patricks Day Card.

Anyone else second guess Doc's small ball line-up at the end of the game? I was beside myself for a minute. Perkins was playing well. I was drooling over thought of Garnett grinding up Prince for three minutes. The two free throws following that alley-oop attempt being exhibit A.

Fear of Wallace on the perimeter?

Still a win is a win, aahhh.

I don't question the move defensively since they never took advantage of it offensively.

The question is, why didn't the post up Prince?
