KG never throws his teammates under the bus. He always avoids questions where reporters try to bait him about his teammates not getting him the ball (which Doc said first in his post game interview).

I was saddened to hear Rondo talk about how KG is unselfish and gave up shot attempts that Rondo felt he should take. He should learn from KG.

I disagree with that.  That is something that needs to be say.

KG responds well to criticisms.

It is not like Rondo is throwing KG under the bus.

I'm a big believer that things should be said behind closed doors, although well-timed criticism can be effective (as Larry Bird proved).

That being said, KG *did* pass up shots he should be taking tonight.

TP for Roy!!

The offense needs to go though the hands of the big ticket.  When that isn't happening our offense doesn't work period.  Look at tape from all our wins this year and you will see this as the common thread.

Considering that Rondo was a far bigger problem tonight than KG, Rondo should save those comments till he sees the tape.

I also don't think that Rondo threw KG under the bus. I just think he needs to learn avoid discussing his teammates in that way with the press because it isn't going to help. Who is he anyway? He needs to get his own game together.

The problem with the ball going through KG is that he is not an effective post player, Atlanta, Cleveland and Detroit have not needed to double team him because he is weak in the post.  He is more comfortable 18 feet away from the hole, which impacts second shot attempts.

KG isn't getting the ball enough to pass up shots. He needs the ball more in general. He and Pierce should literally take 25 shots/game each. Pass it to each other, thats it!! lol

I guess I am happy to leave Detroit with a split.

And so did Rondo, wide open jumpers and layups.

I see two problems here:

1. spacing
2. lack of movement within the offense

These have each been the cornerstones on our offensive success.

Every quality look that KG got, 15-17 footers off the catch, he flared off a screen away from the ball. There was 1. spacing 2. movement away from the ball.

Every time that he passed up an open look, he had another Celtic, Rondo or Pierce within 2 feet of him and his back was primarily to the basket. This creates the illusion of congestion from a player's perspective.

While at home, it's easy to see KG grab a lose ball with an opportunity to turn around and knock down a put back jumper. However, I'm sure he sees not only his defender but Lindsey Hunter or Billups, who each had several take aways around the basket in the 1st half, because our guards gravitated towards the ball.

This is a bigger problem than KG being reluctant to shoot in big spots.

There's a difference between Rondo passing up a 17 foot jumper and KG deciding to pass when he's unguarded 10 feet from the hole, don't you think?

KG played like a wuss last night, as did a lot of the players.  There's plenty of blame to go around; when we needed somebody to step up, they all decided to play "hot potato" with the ball.

Don't forget Ray getting to the basket and passing off.

There were inopportune passes by everyone last night.

Nothing is more frustrating than watching Garnett pass up shot opportunities int he 4th quarter. He needs to take the game over. He caught one 10 feet from the hoops last night and passed it up. MAN, two dribbles and he's at the rim! Take it to the hoop!

This is, of course, true.

OTOH, it doesn't make passing up an open 17-footer from the wing (which is as good a shot as it can get for Rondo) in favor of, for example, a 1 vs 3 drive by Pierce any better. Your PG is supposed to recognize good and bad shots. I understand Rondo is a 2-year player, but this doesn't give him a free pass to disappear in games.

seeing that this thread is about KG,i will try to stay on track, but i feel the teams stars(BIG3),didn't want this game bad enough. It wasn't that Detroit was playing that great last night. We had several chances to take it over.KG passed up some opportunites to possible get us back in the game a few times, alone with a few others, but KG had the most open looks last night, which he failed to take. They blew a golden opportunity last night,to be up 3-1.
