Question- What's worse than a wine snob? Right, a beer snob.

I also love to head down to Cornwall's to get a "Black Velvet" (Guinness and Cider), or when I do go to England, I need to get at least one "Snake Bite Black" (Lager, Cider, and Black Currant...it is dangerously delicious).

This brings up another good point about draft (draught) vs. bottled/canned beer - Guinness is a beer I'll generally only drink on draft, where a Sam Adams I'm cool with in the bottle... I generally do prefer draft, which is why places like Cornwall's are awesome... (Sunset, Beerworks (of course) and a few others also have such a great variety) - even lesser beers seem to taste better on draft, Miller Lite, Bud Light, etc.  As far as bottled goes, though the best IMO are the Ommegang Cask Conditioned beers (you'll find them at a Kappy's) - they go through a process similar to the making of a champagne, and they taste awesome...

Meh, life's way, way too short to drink mediocre beer.  Drink what you want, you offer me one, I'll take it, but beer's something that I'm a bit passionate about.  If that makes me a snob, so be it.

Agree completely...although I have become a fan of the draft cans.  Its definitely not the same as draft, but Guinness is so much better from the can than the bottle.

1. Sam Light
2. Sam Summer
3. Beer Works Back Bay IPA
4. Magic Hat #9
5. Harpoon Summer
5. Magic Hat Single Chair Ale
6. Sam Winter
7. Sam Boston Lager
8. Sam Oktoberfest
9. Sam Boston Ale
10. Harpoon IPA

As you can see, I'm a big Sam drinker. I couldn't decide whether I like IPA more than Sam White, but I polished off a bottle of IPA so as of now, I like IPA more.

That's like an all Boston lineup. Or all New England anyway

I don't know. I don't have the money to drink imports and microbrews all my life. I never thought of beer as something that you have to be rich to enjoy. Granted I don't think of hard stuff that way either, but I couldn't enjoy the cheap crud of that.

Hear! Hear!

I am past the point of caring so much about getting drunk.  When I drink beer, I want to enjoy it.  I would rather just have a Pepsi, if my only other choice is Bud Light.

Depends on how you prioritize things in your life.  I don't mind dropping $9 for a sixer of something like Flying Dog Biere du Garde, since it's a style that I'm not familiar with and I'm only drinking one or two at a sitting regardless (I REALLY get drunk about once a year).  Most of the beer I drink is homebrew, though, so I've got a couple cases of dopplebock I'm cellering that cost me maybe $30-35 in ingredients to brew.

Eeenteresting. Compared to something not too hard like making a batch of cookies how hard is it to make beer? Does it take a lot of work and my wife will be naggin me or can I get it done in a few hours? It sounds like a lot of work with all the ingredients.
