Never posted in Celtics forum before. Think its a great site, I, check at least once a week to have a little firing power to through at other sports fans. so thank yous are in order.

Read an article from Pro Sports Daily about Ryan Gomes  at the game the other night. I love this guy he has an amazing attitude, does all the things a player of his talent level should do and pushes for more. Heard on this site when the Big Trade for the Big Ticket went through that most likely the Celts would find a way to get Gomes back. Was wondering what you think the chances are? Thanks for such a great site.... ;D

Celtics don't have enough money for Ryan.  I know of two teams not including Minn,  that is willing to offer him more money then what the Celtics would have to offer.  Being a 3rd year player going into your 4th season you have to follow the money first.

well, we do have the money thanks to the MLE, i'd just rather spend it on posey.

if there was a way though, love to get ryan back. awesome guy, and good player. be a perfect fit for thsi team, high character hussell guy with skill, he's our prototypical backup

Like I said two teams are willing to offer Ryan more money then Boston will have to OFFER HIM or should I say would be willing to offer him. The chances of him becoming a Celtics during the off-season is slim.

Where would he play?  Why would he come back?

He's not starting over Pierce.

He's not starting over KG.

He's not the backup 3 over Posey (who they will make every possible effort to resign).

It's debatable how much better he is than Powe, if any better.  Powe's a pure PF, something Gomes never will be, and his inside game is more in need for this team than another perimeter player.

The one player from last years' squad I could see them going after this offseason is Delonte; he'd be excellent in House's role, and it seems fairly likely that House will walk.

Gomes is not good enough to be re-acquired.

Which teams?  How much money are they willing to offer him?  How much money are the C's willing to offer him?

If you are going to make it sound like you have inside info, please don't be so cryptic.

It would be cool to re-aquire Gomes. But between Posey, Powe, Davis; the C's don't need him on the bench. Who knows maybe after his next contact things could shake out in the future and he joins the C's in a few years.

I liked Gomes when he was here, but not sure he's actually that good. Obviously, if it's a choice of Gomes or Posey, it's a no-brainer. IMO, Gomes is a smart player who's pretty good at a lot of things, but not exceptional at anything. Maybe similar to Adrian Griffin ?  But I hope I'm wrong and he has a really good career.
Delonte surprised me a little. He played better in the playoffs than I thought he could. He's a tough player, and you have to like his attitude. Nice to see him do well, too bad it wasn't for the C's, seems like he wishes he was still here.  But we have better players, so no, I'm not really hoping for his return either.

Then please do not post that here.  The inside information thing is not adding to the conversation if you cannot substantiate it, or be more detailed.

I understand if you have inside information, it is difficult not to flaunt it, but making posts like that come off as incredibly condescending.

Yesss! Powe is the Man! Another real class act, hes a player that if the Celts get rid of I think I would actually consider not being a fan...... No not really, I just get attached to some players like..
IE: Powe.love this dudes hustle.. Gomes. He put a some of the weight on his shoulders during those s???? years...AGREE??? West. Certainly another guy who would've "jumped through hoops" for a win..
Didn't mean for this to become a list but sense it has have to through in, The Starting Five.. Posey. This guy is "TEAM".he hugs the starting Five amazing!!!! TA. love him for those month's he gave us. Gabe. because I think he will be something special, more so on another team but still like to have him. House. pops his jersey in a very cool way.. Davis. Get a real kick out of watching Glenn run and hes got some game. PJ. for that crazy a** layup!!! Polard. hes got a Celtics uniform.. Guess that ends it.. Sorry to drag this on so long but it's my first post.

I agree on the one hand that it would be difficult to pay him what he's worth. I also agree it would be difficult to play him over Posey or Powe. But he's a good player that just fits on a court. I definitely think they'll talk to him, and now with his 3pointer they may try to put him and Posey at the swing positions. I would think they may give him Tony Allen's money and just keep him for depth purposes and also cause Powe will want a big raise after next year. I'd think they'd say to themselves something like "Well Perk make $4 mill so we'll try to get Gomes at $3 and set the market for Powe".  Three is about what TAllen gets and plus we don't know what will happen with Big baby in about 2 years, plus PJ Brown and Pollard come off the books this year, and Scala in two.  If we're winning championships it might be worth it to pay a million to the luxury tax for a year or something. If we could get Gomes that would also allow us to pick Euros in the draft for the future and stash them in Europe without paying them for a few years, or if they never pan out then maybe never pay them at all.

I disagree - a lot of times you'll read hoopshype or that type of thing and media outlets will have very similar stories which don't name their sources b/c it is protected, but then it comes true and you know they were legitimate.  Its not condescending, its not flaunting knowledge, its saying, here's something I know, because of the anonymity of the blog, I can't reveal how I know it, but I do.  If he tells us stuff that doesn't turn out to be true, he loses our trust. That's all.

And its a lot better than him saying the guy at the sub shop I go to told me....or was it deli...I forget... (best rumour ever though)
