In regards to Pistons teams historically having the  ability to "grind out" games and win ugly.

The team is named after an auto part, you know.

I thought it was pretty clever anyhow...

I didn't feel as uncomfortable during last nights game as he did though.  The Pistons were never in control.  The Celtics responded quickly and effectively every time Detroit cut the lead down or went ahead by a bit.
Yup

  • You know my methods, Watson.
good line.

game 2 will be the interesting one...the pistons know, and have the experience, to file game 1 away and quickly forget about it.  the one thing they have in their favor is the idea that boston cannot win on the road in the playoffs.  the old "we hope for a split" baloney is actually very true for this game because the pistons would be a very confident group going home...and ray can't throw it in the ocean, so the celtics need to come out with the same focus and team play.

funny, but if the celtics go up 2-0, i can actually see them pulling one out in detroit.  don't know why, just a feeling...

I completely agree. While there were points here or there that I thought, "we really need a basket here to keep the pressure on them", we'd always seem to get it, and the game never really felt in doubt to me.

I'm with you there AJ - especially if the Celtics win game 2 in similar fashion as they did Game 2.  I'm running with the theory that Game 7 of the Cleveland series was an eye opener for Pierce.  Also, House getting back in the rotation seems to have given them back the "Moxy" they needed.

Of course we've had a whole bunch of other confidence builders from past home games that have carried zilch into the following road games, so who knows?  I do feel it though.  Pistons be ripe for the pickin'.

...and ohhhhhhhhh if Ray could just get hot.

Yup

Remember when they used to call their bench (Barry, Atkins, Williamson) the alternators?

And I will give a TP, to the first person to tell me what a Rotary engine and this years NBA Finals have in common.

No Pistons.

Agree with AJ, BTW, except I think game one was the biggie.  Huge win.

I felt lots of doubts throughout.  I felt many times that the game was in hand based on our play but I kept looking at the score and it was always within reach by the Pistons.  We played smart and kept the lead and always appaeared to be in control but were just 2 bonehead plays away from being even most of the night.

If we stay within our game and focus and hustle - we'll go all the way.
