yea, i don't buy the injured thing, he's making to many hussle plays while out there, he's still hiting the boards hard and defending well.

I really think its just a slump. shooters slump, even great ones. Hopefully we'll get him going this series.

worth noting is that sicne doc runs zero plays for ray (and the 2 screens he did in game 6, ray knocked down) it's hard for ray to just get shots to get himself going.

what should help ray is if the captain continues to drive and draw doubles. 3 times last night paul did that, and ray either passed up or bricked wide open 3's. he goes 2/3 or 3/3 and suddenly were talking about him rebounding into form.

Paul and ray are so entwined, when one struggles, they both do, and with paul being pretty much a jump shooter until game 5 and 7, ray doesn't get a whole lot of shots to shoot himself out of purgatory. now that the captain is acting like the captain again, ray may see alot more open looks he'll hopefully hit to get himself going.

Love Ray, but he's in a slump. In the playoffs we haven't been running plays that give him good open looks. Combine that with the fact that he struggles at creating for himself at this point in his career, and there's his poor playoffs. Because he's a scorer he needs to and is expected to take shots, and because he's not getting looks he's forcing up bad shots. All those bad shots have thrown off his rhythm which is crucial to Ray's game on offense.

I love sports.  Imagine how much abuse Ray would be taking on this forum if we had lost last night's game.  This really saved Ray Allen's name and I can only hope that he knows that.  Tomorrow night is a chance for him to "rewrite history" and capitalize on last night's win.

if paul stays agressive, along with KG, ray will be gettign open looks. if paul reverts (please dont do this paul) to jumpshooting only, i.e games 1-4, ray will continue to struggle to get looks.

i'd lvoe to see some screens for ray, this is one aspect of his game that he's phenominal at that doc refuses to use. ray allen is like rip hamilton off screens, nearly unbloackable and a great shooter.

I know running plays for one player goes against doc's offensive sets style of offense, but ray allen off a screen can be a major weopen, though since we haven't done it all year, were probley to out of practice at it...

I hope he gets it going. It was traumatic seeing him miss two WIDE openn 3s. Had he hit those the momentume would have been even greater and we win easy.

I agree Crownsy (TP) ... how many looks Ray gets has a lot to do with how aggressive Paul is with his attack. Also, hopefully Rage will hit his jump-shot consistently, and that would also free Ray up a little more on the weak side.

This post isn't about what Ray's doing right and what he's doing wrong. I know that for the last few games (during the games) I've been cursing at Ray. But on a clear head, I realize it's a team sport. Ray is slumping big time right now and it doesn't help the Celtic cause to bash him.

If nothing else he will have me at the game supporting him even if he's still in his funk.

Come on Ray.

You can do this.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Before this is all over, Ray Allen will have a special place in Celtics Lore, and it won't be for what he couldn't or didn't do, it will be for what he accomplished. And it'll happen soon, mark my words.

6 hours before Tip-off.

Ray should be shooting around.

Just try to feel comfortable! Come on!

I know Ray is going to get it going with his next shot, as he believes. Mark these words, Ray is going to have his break-out game against Detroit as they try to guard him one on one...

C'mon Ray, you can light it up tonight!

Ray Allen is a hall of famer. He's struggling now, but a player the caliber of Allen, one of the best shooters of all time, doesn't just lose it.  I'll continue to sport my Ray Allen jersey every game and when he snaps out of it it will be in a big way.

Ray's still doing things to help us win. That big rebounding tip etc.... His shot will start to fall and then look out.

before the c's go to warm up, doc should show Ray a 'Ray Allen Highlights Video' im sure theres one on  Youtube, showing him knocking down shots throughout his career ending with some big ones from this season, just to get back into his mind the fact that usually he'll nail more shots than he misses.

i mean seriously, how can watching hilights of yourself not pump you up and get you back into it.
