Anyone else hear this...Asked about desperation of a game 6 do or die..

he said.."A Lebron James team does not get desperate"

Not exactly motivational words

Seems like those words could come back to bite you in the end..

Like Lebron James is bigger than his team and last night he did'nt get anyone else involved..

keep up the good work
See, this is why I'm not allowed to announce NBA games -- I'd be talking in the Cookie Monster voice right now:

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... my knee hurts ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ... me don't like when my knee hurts ...

It's unreal how the mainstream media basically gives Lebron a pass on ridiculous 3rd person references like this without any sort of ridicule.  It's why I can never bring myself to like Lebron even though he can often come across as pretty likeable . . . then he makes arrogant statements like this.  Makes me sick.

He keeps the team calm.  He is the team leader and believe me he will be talking to the team today and getting them prepared for Game 6.  He knows the role players need to be relaxed and ready to go.

Lebron tells his teammates what he thinks and then leads by example.  It's what team leaders do.

Do you really think Mike Brown has the ability to calm his team down and make sure they are prepared?  Have you seen how manages a game?  Lebron keeps him calm as well.  Brown falls back on the 'Lebron will bail me out' mentality just as much as the rest of the Cavs do.

The only guy who seems to not rely on Lebron to get him going is DWest.  I really like his game

That's all well and good but he could simply say "I won't allow my team to be desperate." or something of that nature.  No need for the third person references IMO.

I somewhat agree here.  Lebron is a great kid and a good role model.  He stays out of trouble, is very active in the community and says all the right things, most of the time.  The third person references really hammer home the 'global icon' that Lebron wants to become.  I just want him to play basketball

I think he is afraid of failing. He thinks it will tarnish his image. This maybe why he sometimes passes up the last second shot and definitally the reason he never competes in the dunk contest.

I couldn't agree more.  He is way too concerned with his image.  Unfortunatly I get the feeling that he will become the next Kobe.

To be quite honest. I liked the comment. I think there are only two active players in the league that can talk in the 3rd person, Lebron and Kobe.  It is Lebron's team, there is no question about it.

I would love to see Charles Barkley only talk in the third person. The chuck wagon is great!

I actually didn't think what he said was bad.  LeBron is a true leader of his ball club.  I think he was sending a message to his teammates that He isn't going to allow himself or them to feel any type of pressure.  He also was sending a message to the Celtics that this series isn't over yet.  Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, Tiger Woods all the great players have made statements like that one LeBron made.  If Lebron was a Celtics most of you would be proud of the leadership he is showing.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Well they looked pretty desperate last year against the Spurs.  ::)

Let's hope we can bring back those faces for them on friday.

IndeedProceed is as sick as anyone over the Lebron slurpfest going on right now, but Indeed thinks that Lebron was just being 23 years old, somewhat at a loss of what to say after a big loss on the road, and Lebron James just wanted to make a statement. IndeedProceed can't possibly predict what IndeedProceed would say under those circumstances so he can excuse Lebron James's somewhat silly choice in words.

"Slurpfest" you guys kill me nobody was saying anything about a "slurpfest" when at the start of the season it was all about the "Big Three".  All I keep hearing was hey did anyone think of the name for KG, Ray and Paul?  "Hey KG, Ray and Paul are going to espn to shot a commercial". "Hey ESPN is doing a Sunday conversation with the big three". "Paul Pierce is going to be on Best [dang] sport show tonight you guys watching"....Slurp, slurp, slurp.  If KG is going to take a leak and someone both word of it I'm sure you would tell us about that to.

I believe that he was making a joke. Third person jokes make me laugh. Reminds me of Seinfeld "The Jimmy" episode.

No, you're right, it was all Celtics all the time. I can't complain about that much, and Im not known for being completely unbiased when it comes to what points of the media I like and I don't. Im not a Cavs fan and Im not a Lebron fan as long as this series is going on and I feel like the media and announcers are going out of their way to find good things to say about Lebron and bad things to say about the Celtics. But if you read the post I really don't have any problem with what Lebron actually said.
