I did see the Celtics use a few more screens the last few games for Ray Allen. But by a few more, I mean like two the whole game. To me, Ray Allen is a better version of Rip Hamilton with a better 3 point shot.

I remember around the all-star game Doc said he still wasn't quite sure how to use Ray. Well, here's a video Doc. Study it. Notice all the screens out near the 3 point line for Ray.

Get this guy going.

I will add that I have seen Ray getting doubled a lot off of pick and roll plays where Doc is trying to get him going. But I just want to see more screens for Ray for an open jumper.

I don't get Doc. Ray has Wally on him, he should be scoring at will.

Yea it's all sorts of strangeness as to why this team should have offensive struggles so frequently. Part of it is Pierce and Allen are likely injured. But I don't get how Doc still doesn't know how to use Ray Allen, even Ray Allen acknowledges the offense doesn't suit his abilities.

I agree completely. Ray needs to be given a same side of the floor pick to curl around to the middle and hit the open shot. Even when he struggles he knocks down that pullup 15 footer like it is nothing. The only pick we try to give him is to go underneath the basket from the opposite side. Half the time it takes so long something breaks down and he isn't open by the time he gets there. He needs to go down to the corners, and then have someone pick his man so he can get freed up for a quick shot. Then once he has hit a couple of those he is ready to knock down the three. He is a streak shooter that needs to have some plays run for him. With PP getting shut down by Lebron he should be our #2 option.

has it occurred to anyone that maybe, after coming off double ankle surgery, ray isn't capable of this anymore?  the consistency certainly isn't there.

plus, "the captain, and the truth" would start pouting if ray rifled all those shots, especially if one didn't go in.
God bless and good night!

More easy shots closer to the basket.

Get him going with bunnies.

if "the captain" started complaining about ray hitting shots like that, he is a ****g idiot.

on a side note, i don't expect to see ray rifle shots like that ever again...double ankle surgery (thanks keyon dooling) will do that to a shooter, unfortunately.

still, he seems too still have pretty good acuracy on his 18-20 ft. jumpers...someone just has to set him a freaking pick! WHY doesn't this team set up the best shots for the best shooter?!?

this has baffled me all season, and baffles me even more since playoffs have started.

They've been trying to do this lately. The help defense has swallowed Ray up and when it hasn't, he's just flat out missed his shots.

he is better inside the 3pt line..pick would get him much better looks..but he has made big shot with a hand in his face

Ray hasn't been used well all season long. Not enough touches below that three point line. Not enough screens. Not enough opportunities to create with the ball. Not enough freedom in the open floor.

Ray has sacrificed so much for this team. More than anyone. So much of the criticism he gets is undeserved and is more about the game plan than Ray.

What does Ray need to get going? Everything I said they weren't doing enough of up above.

I have to believe that we need Ray Allen to have a big game at some point to make Cleveland adjust. The onus is on the entire team: coaching and players to make this happen. Then again Ray Allen looks small and slow playing against Wally Sczerbiak. THat is a red flag.

I agree 100%.  Ray needs the ball in his hands a little more.  When the season started, there was talks of Ray being the back up point guard, now all of a sudden people think his ball handling ability is weak.  Also, he is a good passer in my opinion.  He's not going to the bucket as much as he used to and him and KG should be playing a 2 man game more often.  The pick and pop or pick and roll would be DEADLY with those two.  If they go under the screen that leaves Ray Allen with a wide open 3, if they come over KG can roll or pop and get an open shot.  I don't understand, those are two extremely high percentage shots for these guys and I haven't seen Doc do this enough.
