Ray Allen is supposedly one of the truly great, great 3 pt. shooters of al time. He is a big time scorer, period. Where is he? He stinks this series. No one in particular is guarding him. He doesn't even shoot and the ball hardly finds him. West and Wally both outplayed him and they were each in the trade for him.

I think his biggest problem is that he's a streak shooter who needs a lot of touches to really get going. This should be happening whenever a good defender is on Pierce. Some ways to get him better looks...

Iso with Wally

Ray may not be as quick as he used to be, but he can still probably take Wally off the dribble. At worst, he should be able to draw blocking fouls and get to the line.

Coming off Picks

Despite the YouTube video, it doesn't seem like he's performing well off picks most of the time this year. Do this if he has a rhythm going.

KG in the Post
Do this with a smallish lineup and stack the perimeter with shooters. KG either takes a high percentage shot or he gets doubled and dishes it out. Ray might be one of the players that benefits.

multiple picks should help. the cavs have done a good job swallowing him up off a single pick at times this series. so? run 2 picks, 3 picks on a play. ray should easily have the stamina to do this. plus, it will tire wally out. we also need to do this more with pierce...lebron hasn't been shooting well, anyway, but make him run through some more picks when he's on defense, tire him out more. more screens = more open looks = more tired cavs players. and if ray and paul get tired, bring in posey and house for a few minutes to do the same thing. both are great shooters. maximize the minutes for our 2s and 3s. maybe play ray and paul fewer minutes, but make their minutes hell for cleveland, forcing lebron and wally to run around a lot more on defense. and unless we're down by 20 all game long, ray allen needs to get at least 10-15 shots a game. he's missing, yes, but he's not missing badly. he just needs more of a rhythm on offense. more shots off more open looks (via picks) should do the trick.
