Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury I present to you Mr. Barry Zito. Seven Years 126 million dollars.
And of course how could we forget the pitcher every big team was lusting over Carl Pavano, 4 years 40 million dollars for 5 wins.
Allen Houston, Anfernee Hardaway, Chris Webber, Grant Hill also come to mind.
Gilbert Arenas is my pick to be next.
These guys weren't one year wonders, as Redz suggested, but merely players who had promising young careers, signed huge contracts, and got injured. Blount is a great example, given the 2nd half of his contract year (including a 28 point, 21 rebound game). Now it takes Blount 6 games to get 21 rebounds.
Zito peaked in '02, and was on his way downhill when he signed a $126 contract. Has anyone looked at the Giants lineup recently? The only notable position player left there is Randy Winn. Randy Winn!
