I remember the Toine when he was a rookie and he would dunk a lot more often.

But then we never had a PG so Pitino tried to make him one and he became a perimeter chucker, rarely had opportunities to dunk the ball.

Except for a little joke about Walker's ups when did I disrespect Walker?

I was just saying as much as some might love Walker, and I loved Walker in his earlier years here, I just don't think in the end his legacy will be that he just will not be remembered. It's just what people do. 20-30 years from now very few will be passing along stories of Antoine.

I even said I think Pitino ruined him and that he had 9 time All Star potential and it was a shame that he didn't have vet. guidance.

I'm sorry Bass, I wasn't taking a shot at you, Walker, or Walkers diehard supports. I was making a statement about what happens to players who don't ultimatelt deliver the ultimate prize in some towns.

Walker, for all his Celtic pride, never got the most out of his ability, and in part due to his own failure to keep in prime shape, he's washed up at the age of 31.  That's a shame.  I liked Antoine when he was here, but he could have been a much, much better player than he turned into.

If he worked on his game and his conditioning in the off-season like so many coaches implored him to, he'd have more than a 3 inch vertical leap right now.  He's one of the best passing and offensive rebounding forwards to come into the league in a long time, and all he did was brick perimeter shots.  Again, a pity.

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

There was a period where Walker could get any player in the league in the post and spin around for a lay up.  He could do this, pretty much at will, but chose to live out by the 3 point line instead.  That always frustrated me, but no one could ever doubt Twoine's heart or will to win.  Those teams he led back to the playoffs were fun to watch and generally over achieved.
Yup

Walker did give us one of the best quotes ever though...

When asked at an all-star game why he shot so many threes, he replied "Because there aren't any fours".

I loved employee number 8 in spite of all his flaws. He had heart.

I loved tione's passion, and desperately wanted him to stay low, work on his game and be the player he could have been. Ultimately I blame 2 things:

1) Coaching
2) Lack of vetran leadership his rookie year

He had numbers about as good as Durant's his first year in the league. I think it was that year that ruined him though: made him take all those bad shots, got him the ball no matter what...

He had to carry a team that was just amazingly bad.  I think he started shooting the 3's because ML Carr let him get beat up in the post.  Of course Duncan won ROY that year...

But if Durant deserved it, so did Toine.

I also have to add that his decline can be attributed to his head coaches not giving him(or not forcing him) rest for his first seven seasons here.  That attributed to the arthritic knees he has now which would most definitely hamper any little athleticism he had coming into the league.  Playing a 40+ minutes a night for seven years tends to take its toll, ya know.... :-\

Still, though....I'm holding out hope that Antoine gets back to being a solid contributor on a good team real soon.  He's now in the final year of his contract so the prospects of him being dealt are pretty good....especially if it's at the deadline next season.

Also, from what I'm hearing now, Glen Taylor of the Wolves once again tried to buy him out but Antoine still said no.  Which is understandable considering that the big contract is the probably the last one he'll see.  After his contract runs out, he'll be jumping from team to team, playing for the Vet Minimum.  I doubt he'd retire at 32....but then again, what does he have left to prove anyway?  He got his ring and his money....

Perhaps it's a Pride-thing....

I agree.  I expected Toine to be at least what we are seeing from Lamar Odom now.  But was he really that good of a rebounder?  Most of his rebounds, especially the offensive ones, were from his own misses (at least that's how it appeared to me).  The guy missed soooo many layups it was ridiculous.

Rondo's 13 dunks is very impressive.

We all know he can dunk it we all saw the 360 and the throw downs on big men highlights from youtube.

But it's worth mentioning that the only other PGs in the league ahead of Rondo in dunking is:

Kenyon Dooling: 14
D-Will: 15
Baron Davis: 16
Antonio Daniels: 16

These 4 player's have an average of 7 years NBA experience to Rondo's 1 and all have 2-4 inches on him.

So that being said I think Rondo shows good signs of becoming a great slashing guard that can not only hit the open man but become a great finisher which collapses defenses and makes hitting the open man only easier.

His lack of height is well made up by his freakish arm length and hand size and that shows in the stealing and apparently the dunking stats as well.

Just an observation....
