Considering the condition of Walker's ups, does anyone know if he used Lucky's trampoline to get that dunk?

I loved and will always respect the Antoine Walker that played power forward for the Celtics. The Antoine Walker that played a combo guard, I didn't like even in the slightest.

Walker's time has come and gone here and, for the most part, those years were some of the most embarassing years in Celtic lore. Twenty years from now no one will be talking about Walker in a Celtics uni or anything that happened during his years here.

History doesn't remember the bad years and players of those bad years in sports. Its stories of the good years that are always told to kids and grandkids. There are reasons why most kids haven't got a clue who Jimmy Foxx or Dick Radatz are. Because they played for the Red Sox in some of their sorriest years. They are two of the greatest Red Sox of all time and yet, almost no one under 25 probably has ever heard of them.

People tell Sox stories of Williams and Yaz and Rice and Tiant and Clemens and Papi and Manny and Schilling and 1967 and 1975 and 1986 and 2004. That's because they were great teams and good times.

And part of the reason Toine gets a lack of respect here is because of what he became and how that contributed to the bad times. People expected the next great passing PF. Instead Walker became something entirely different and was a reason for the Celtics never being able to get back to the top. Lots of Celtics fans resent that and the very unCeltic-like way he played as time went by.

Antoine will sooner or later be forgotten. Probably slower than some would like, but no one remembers the guys who played for losers.

BT, when I look back at that era I will always think, what would Antoine have become as a player if he ever got to play with a player like Reggie Lewis who would have been about 30 or 31 when Walker entered the league.

I, personally, think that if Walker had that older, experienced, high quality veteran there to guide him through his early years, he'd probably still be a Celtic and we'd be looking at an 8 or 9 time All-Star. He just never had that and Pitino ruined him long term by not instilling in him the knowledge and experiences a veteran pro could have regarding his work ethic and conditioning and other subtleties of the game.

I just think Walker could have been so much more than he could have and except for that one game against New Jersey, there's almost nothing to celebrate about his time here.

AW was a tremendous talent, incredible teammate, and a fierce competitor....he helped bring the C's out of the pits which he WAS apart of for some time and for that he needs to be remembered and WILL be remembered.

Have C's fans forgot the playoff drought we had post the Bird and Lewis era?

yea, i'm on recored as saying i wouldn't want toin back because he wouldn't fit the system, but i'm with bass, some of you seem to be able to forget that antoine was a good player here, and busted his butt night in and night out.

It's not like were saying his number should be retired, but [dang], some of you are nasty...

Who are you talking about?  I don't think anyone was suggesting that.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I did, and you posted the same thing three times - the last time it seemed like it was directed towards nickagneta.  I don't think anyone is making a personal attack towards any of the 'Toine sympathizers.

dont understand the animosity for walker. he drove us all crazy at times, but this guy bled celtic green.

quick story about toine that shows why i'll always consider him a true celtic. remember at the end of the 04-05 season when we clinched the 3 seed with 2 games left? our next game was in cleveland, and they needed to win to stay in contention for the 8th seed. i was at the game.

our starters didnt play too well, and you could tell the game meant a lot more to the cavs. we were down by about 15-20 in the second half, and doc pulled all the starters.

the backups played the rest of the game, and straight up BALLED on the cavs starters. marcus, delonte, al, tony, justin reed, perk, etc. at one point, we cut the lead all the way down to one. the place was dead quiet, except for all of us celtic fans who were going nuts.

i looked down at the celtic bench, and everyone was just pretty much sitting there, watching the clock tick down (doc, pierce, glove, ricky, blount, raef). except for one guy. walker was literally all the way up the baseline, almost under the basket, cheering for his teammates and going NUTS. the game meant nothing, and at that point, there was a really good chance he'd be gone after the playoffs, yet he still cared about supporting his teammates and being a celtic.

say what you want about his shot selection, lack of athleticism, or the wiggle, but this man was a true celtic.

To be fair, 'Toine only played in 46 games and got less than 20 mpg.  Also, most of his minutes are with the 2nd unit, so he was taking passes from Marko Jaric.  Anyone who doesn't play under the basket would have a tough time getting dunks unless they were a slasher in that situation.
