In all honesty, I'm not going to be very active in a points-based, game-limits league.  I only signed up last year to rescue a team from  a GM who had quit in the middle of the draft.  Generally, I don't participate in leagues that are either points-based, *or* have game limits, and this one has both.

Because of that, I'm going to give up my team.  This isn't a plea to get people to change their minds; I'm genuinely trying to do what's best for  the league.  I have a stacked team, but I guarantee, with game limits and points-based, I won't be making roster changes and interacting with my team on a day-to-day basis.  There are just too many other leagues I'm in that I enjoy more.

I don't think you guys will find any trouble finding a new owner; Brand / Wade / Carmelo / Beasley is a huge, huge fantasy core (please, though, make sure the new guy picks Beasley).  If you can't find a replacement, I'll stay on, but I think you guys would be better off with somebody who is more invested in the league.  I wasn't an  active participant last year, and I don't see much of a change coming this year, frankly, even though my team will be better.

Hobbs, I'd ask you to reconsider.

It seems that there are advocates for both points-based and H2H. I'm not passionate about either setup.

Someone suggested the idea of setting up both. It wouldn't be difficult to carry over the rosters for both leagues, and let people sign up for whichever format they preferred. Anyone not electing to play in one league could give their team over to whomever they wished.

I think game limits are a waste.  I think you should be rewarded for having a deep team.  Definitely have a cap on pick ups though.

I responded to your PM.  I want to reiterate that I didn't give up  my team to get my way, etc.  I did it for the good of the league, because I know I just won't be active in a points-based, game limit league (as I guess you guys all saw last year, huh?)  I probably shouldn't have taken on the team in the first place, but I did that to save a team who had their  owner  quit in mid-stream.

If we go to a two-leagued system, I still can't see myself being active in the points league.  I would participate in the H2H league, because I enjoy them more.  I'd give my team in the points league to whoever wanted it, out of fairness to  the league.

The only issue with split-ownership of a team is, at some point different roster decisions will be made.  Also, inevitably, teams will have different results in each of the leagues.  Each of these issues will result in the draft looking different  in each league.

I'm really not trying to stir things up at all; I probably should have picked a better time (i.e., not during the other draft) to  voice my concerns about my own commitment to the league.

Holy Deja Vu Batman!

Why don't we wait until the other draft is over to decide the direction of this league. There seems to be some manager crossover between the two leagues.

I can't speak for other managers in this league, but it would be a loss not to have Hobbs in the league this year, especially with his primed team.

On a side note, if there are any other leagues starting up and are in need of an active manager, please PM me.

Thanks, Mk

Here are a couple of options to think about for this season. Since there are at least a few players who want to raise/remove the game limits, we have a few different things we could do.

1.> Keep things the same, 11 starters, 5 bench players, and an 82 game limit per position.

2.> 11 starters, 5 bench players, and an 100 game limit per position. This would reward managers for deeper benches, but with a little room for injured players / rookies / etc... Managers would also need to be active to swap in/out players to max the game limits.

3.> 14 starters (3 new util positions), 2 bench players, and an 82 game limit per position. Play a large portion of the roster, yet two positions to stash players.

4.> 11 starters, 5 bench players, and unlimited game limits.

Thoughts?

Mk

Guys, I'm going to check back in on this later on, when Yahoo! actually allows me to start setting up leagues again. Right now, their fantasy site doesn't allow me to review last year's league. I'd like to know for sure what our options are before I start suggesting available league formats.

I do like the idea of two leagues, one head-to-head, and one points-based (based on last year's format). Rosters from last year would carry over, and managers would be free to have one or two teams, with the expectation that, as soon as the leagues were open for movement, there would be no connection between the two (roster moves/trades in one league would not be reflected in the other).

I'll check back on this again later, when the mock-GM draft has concluded and fantasy football drafts have passed.

IF we do two leagues, I will open up my team to being taken over by someone else on the points based non h2h league.

Hey all, just logged in for the first time in several weeks, I've been away and have just been lurking as a visitor.  Anyway, embarrassingly enough I just saw the PM from RH, dated July 11, and I wanted to respond here, that I am indeed still excited to continue on with this league.

Whatever format is agreed upon, will be fine for me, but if asked to vote, I'd also be in favor of switching to the head to head model, which always seems fun.

Resurrecting this thread for two reasons: a) so I can more easily find it in the forums, and 2) because Yahoo! has opened up registration for fantasy basketball.

I'll soon be setting up a H2H and a points based league, with last year's rosters carried over.

OK, here, again, is my best guess of who is in and who is out.

I will set up two leagues: one points based, based on last year's categories (perhaps with minor tweaking); and one head-to-head, based on the categories we discussed earlier in this thread. I'll carry over the rosters from last year over to this year.

If you're listed as out, and want back in, PM me, and make a case for yourself.

If you are listed as in, and want out, PM me, and let me know. If you only want out of one of the leagues (for instance, you don't like the points setup, but like H2H), please let me know which one. If you've found someone to take over one of your old teams for you, that's fine; have that person PM me.

If you aren't listed, and want in, PM me. Again, specify which league you want in. I'm not giving a new manager a team in both leagues unless we end up short on players; I want to allow as many people as possible to play. Right now, there are 4 confirmed (as far as I understand) drops, so at least 8 new GMs can participate.

My invitation errors saying that the league no longer exists.

Can't wait to get rolling on the college draft.
