I was curious what people on here thought about a future trade scenario.

If the Celtics season was faltering at (roughly) the half-way point of the season. Would you trade Paul George to Golden State for Jimmy Butler (salary dump) and multiple picks? And if so, how many picks would it take for you to be happy with the trade return?

Celtics ownership has never operated like that. There is no way Stevens gets fired anytime soon.

Hypothetically, Celtics could struggle as a result of Tatum missing games with injury issues. The Celtics were probably the most fortunate team last season in regards to overall missed games. That could very easily change this season.

Butler, and his inability to shoot threes effectively, would be a very bad fit for their current system.

Also, call me naive but I think they will be fine at the halfway point!

Cs should be better on court than last year. Though their record most likely will be worst due to the East getting better. So I don't see them bailing on the season unless there are serious injuries

Assuming there are injuries and they want to dump money PG could opt out if he has a good year and say wants to go play for Lakers or some other team. So with that in mind maybe they move a smaller contract like White.

I would not.  Butler is in decline, so is George, but I think George compliments our team better.

You'd have to assume that PG was playing very well and that GSW was in the mix this year for this to be a consideration for GSW.  I think if PG is playing very well it probably translates to the Celtics playing well and possibly a legitimate contender in the East.  Under those circumstances the C's wouldn't trade PG for Butler.
