If LeBron was willing to sign for the minimum, or even the BAE, that would have been a no-brainer.  You even go into the repeater for him because he brings in a ton of extra revenue.  So of course they checked in, and of course they had no chance.  Although, as I said in the LeBron-Tatum thread, I think his on-court fit here would have been better than anywhere, and he would have had the best chance to win outside of going to OKC or San Antonio.

Snark aside, like others have said, not surprising they "checked in" on LeBron.  I am not sure how great of a fit he would have been in BOS though.  Would you want to start (or close) with White, Tatum, George, LeBron, Center?  And no, I am not thinking that LeBron could be our PG.  People thought we had trouble covering quicker guards last season, that line up would be even worse.

I'd still say no, he has noted many times either through reporters or himself that he dislikes Boston so he probably wouldn't have come here regardless. But you can't deny Jaylen being in PHI factored him going there. Maybe the C's could have just salary dumped White, kept Jaylen and then added Lebron to the group at virtually 2/8M. Or hell, salary dump Hauser + a few fringe guys and keep the team and add Lebron.

There were reports that LeBron was pushing CLE to trade Donovan Mitchell for Jaylen Brown. That their refusal to do so and decision to instead extend D Mitchell's contract led LeBron to look elsewhere.
