Just sounds like due diligence to me.

If LeBron was willing to sign for the minimum, or even the BAE, that would have been a no-brainer.  You even go into the repeater for him because he brings in a ton of extra revenue.  So of course they checked in, and of course they had no chance.  Although, as I said in the LeBron-Tatum thread, I think his on-court fit here would have been better than anywhere, and he would have had the best chance to win outside of going to OKC or San Antonio.
