PG is our guy now, like it or not (and apparently there are some that don't like it).
Who does like it, compared to JB?
Two different things. Paul George cannot replace Jaylen Brown but that does not mean he won't contribute to the team in his own way. I have accepted the trade and now I want to focus on what PG can do to help the Celtics.
I have said many times that I don't like the trade, that I do not think the trade made the team better. But that does not mean I don't like PG. I am not going to dwell on this. I like what I saw from PG in the playoffs and I hope he keeps that up for the Celtics. And we will see if Management is able to do anything with the picks or otherwise to help the team.
So, you're among the people that don't like that PG is our guy now. That makes your "apparently" clause seem odd.
I have no idea what this means. I don't like that Brown NOT being one of our guys anymore. I am fine that George is one of our guys and I plan to root for him and hope for the best. It is irrespective of how Paul George got here. How he got here is water under the bridge at this point and PG is not to blame for how he got here.
That is what I mean by two separate things.
Sure, but PG isn't here without JB being moved. So, those who don't like PG being here are those who think it was a poor trade. Which seemingly includes you, making it odd that you'd implicitly criticize those that are "apparently" in the "not like it" category.
So, perhaps instead of parenthetical snark, you simply say "Paul George is our guy now, so hopefully Celtics fans will cheer for him no matter how they feel about the trade".
