Can they still package Hauser in the trade the 27 mill trade exception with first round picks and get someone like a Murphy?

Nope. Celtics are harcapped at the first apron an currently only 4.5 million below it.

I am just trying to wrap my head around why. No added cap flexibility in the next 2 years. We get worse in the short and long term. And the 2028 pick is worth nothing. So we waste Tatum?s prime hoping that we find the next lebron in 2031?

how do you figure, isn't it essentially the 2028 clips?

Yes. It will be the Clippers pick. And probably a lottery pick.

Ahh I did not realize that. That changes it a little bit. But still an awful trade.

It funny, this is probably a move the Celtics would make in 2017 or 2020

Concerns about this roster:

1. PG is a 3 chucker. That probably makes Joe happy but goes against everything Brad said they needed to fix this offseason.

2. Can PG give you 60 games at a decent level? I do think PG will be more of a team player in the offense as he has played with great players before. If he is healthy, he can be pretty good. He was really good in the playoffs.

3. Brad cannot waste a second year of JT's prime this year. He has to still give him more on this roster somehow.

pretty dumb eh?

it was bad enough rebuilding from 2014 to 2017. 4 year rebuild. but we had no choice.

joe has wasted prime years now like 2023, 2025 and 2026.

now we kick can down road for one last hope? LOL

what a a joke.

you overpay for giannis like we overpayed for KG. a proven commodity that can help u win a title.

would you rather him or paul george? LOL
may as well get back to actually tanking after this fiasco

we do not have time to strat all over and redo this scredw up

I was just playing around with trade ideas to flip George lol George and lower level picks (not the ones we just got) for Zion and his 2 remaining years.

Maybe we need to take a little more dead weight salary off their hands. The Pelicans would probably be happy to get off Zion with more picks.

Look the Celtics are going t be a very good team next year, at least regular season wise. They won 56 games last year and are basically replacing Brown+Simmons/Vucevic with Tatum+George+Robinson. That's an upgrade. The young guys should improve as well.

Its just that clearly their ceiling for next year is lower than it would have been if they just kept Brown. Ultimately they decided that saving some future money and getting a few admittedly good future firsts was worth having a lower ceiling next year.

PG is a two year experiment where they probably dump him after he opts in for his last year.

Yeah, that is how I see it. This is a 1 year period with PG13 and then he becomes an expiring contract. Then Brad will look to trade his expiring deal + the picks + BOS future picks to net a superstar back in return.

So next summer (12 months time) or the 2028 trade deadline (18 months time), Brad makes his move to put BOS back into title contention and sets BOS up to stay there for the remainder of Tatum's best years.

This makes sense - though no guarantee.  But if it works out like this Brad will be looked at a little differently than he is at the moment.

Ignorant trade. Ignorant offseason. I'd much rather get an expiring than the corpse of Paul George. Window is closed.

Yeah this is where I am at with their ceiling. I also feel if we now trade for Murphy and use those picks it makes me feel worse because now you don?t have those picks and Murphy isn?t that good to use those picks on I feel.

Though it might ease a little of the pain when we swap our pick with SA.  Been dreading that swap for years, slowly watching either side gradually work their way in opposite directions.

This will never come out but the only thing that would make me not want to throw up is if Tatum basically said he needed to get away from JB. I doubt that happened and even if it did we will never know but that is the only acceptable reason to do something this stupid.

now brad sucks as bad as joe. these 2 clowns are made for each other.

I am listening to Kevin O'Connor's emergency podcast and he is reading fans emails / tweets / messages.

One of them said - I think Philly will be too much "your turn, my turn". I agree.

(1) Edgecombe was already lost in the mix most of the time when Embiid was healthy. It will be even tougher with Jaylen.

(2) Embiid and Maxey managed each other well but that will be tougher again with Jaylen in the mix. Jaylen is a more aggressive score and less capable passer than James Harden was. Developing chemistry between their 3 scorers will be harder.

Pretty much.  Time for the anonymous narratives to come out about how toxic JB was.  Not that those stories will make me any happier.
