I'm surprised. I don't like this deal.
George has been performing way below his prime in Philly. He's 36 yo. and has had a lot of down time the past 2 years.
So they got a couple of no.1s., but they won't be high no.1s with Philly on the upswing.
What's going on in Boston?
Have the hedge funders seized the purse strings like they have at Fenway?
This doesn't improve the Celtics.

It seems like one of two things (or a combo)

1. A directive from cheap ownership
2. Some interpersonal desire to get Brown off the team ASAP

Because the Celtics clearly lost this trade no matter how you square it.

Wasting Tatum's prime years.

This is horrendous.

PP
White
PG
JT
Robinson

That is a play in to low seed in the east at best

Not defending this abysmal trade, but the roster at present if healthy is better than last year at this time, clearly better.

We will see. I think losing JB's scoring and adding a broken down mule in PG is a big step back.

A huge step back. And white is 32 , this is not good.  What a waste

Made Philly maybe the best team in the east all the while removing yourself from being a contender with JB is just absolute madness.

Maybe Cooper Flagg is really joining the Cs after 2028.

I have absolutely no interest in going to any Celts games at this point.  Let other idiots pay those ridiculous ticket prices for an inferior product.

Brad shouldnt go either. Hes just going to get the Nico Harrison treatment from this moment on. And deservedly so.

Ok - but you are adding Jayson Tatum.   Anyway - I?m not disagreeing that the trade is horrendous and extremely disappointing.

This is a dark day in Celtics history.

Not as bad as Luka to the Lakers but right up there! Fire Brad!

This might actually be worse?oh boy. There must be a second part where we ship PG for another guy. But why did we make our main rival better?!?!

part 2 is trading Tatum for Derozan and 6 second round pick swaps.

1. Brad absolutely fumbled the Giannis deal by low balling them
2. Had no plan B after burning the bridge
3. They do not want to pay JB the extension

4. The picks are WORTHLESS

5. Saddled with an old, injured piece of crap Paul George

6. Made your rival a serious contender

Brad Stevens should be fired. This is the worst deal the Cs have made in decades

They won't get 50 games out of PG
The picks are worthless. This was a get Jaylen off the team at all costs and asap move. Maybe the worst deal in franchise history - even worse than the McAdoo trade that almost caused Red to join the Knicks.

That's a great comparison. Red had lined up draft picks along with a couple of player acquisitions in order to rebuild the late 70's Celtics and John Y Brown swooped in and destroyed the roster by trading away the picks. Red was in a cab on the way to the airport is the way the story goes. Was this trade ordered by ownership ? If so, Brad should have resigned in protest.

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett - Tatum

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:

And the sad thing is Boston STILL has holes to fill and this move created more of them.

From Keith Smart:

The 2028 pick Boston is getting, or swapping, with the Sixers is kind of complicated.

Boston could get Philadelphia's pick if it lands 1-8. If that pick is 9-30 it's gone from the Sixers in a complicated swap that involves multiple teams.

If the Philadelphia pick is 9-30, then Boston could get the most favorable of their own pick and the LA Clippers pick that Philadelphia owns, with the less favorable pick staying with the Sixers.

I think that's how it will work out. More to come when it's all been sorted.

That?s actually good at least.

The 2028 first is probably going to be the Clippers pick that Philly owns. Boston gets the best of theirs, philly or LA and it will be LA's.

Didn?t help their cap sheet either. Worst trade in team history
