I am reading all kinds of crazy talk about the Celtics shopping JB to basically every team in the NBA.  So my question is,
do you think there is any chance at all we see JB stay with the Celtics?  Or, is this now way to far gone?

Kalshi has him remaining in Boston at 27%. That seems about right. Seems like both the player and organization want to move on at this point.

Of course. I don?t believe that we know the true extent to which JBs has been shopped or inquired about.  And we don?t know Brads thoughts and feelings or Jaylens.  Absolutely think he could be back.

I don't think a return makes any sense. Given what Jaylen has said and what has happened.
We have to find a deal somewhere. Buying Jaylen out would be a catastrophe.

I mean, there are credible reporters saying otherwise. Shams states they have been shopping Brown for a while now. Brad had the opportunity to say that they were not moving him during the post draft press conference. He could have put an end to all of it and chose not to.

John Karalis guessed 25% chance Jaylen stays.

He said that on an interview with a Portland radio station / podcast and they were surprised the number was that high. Karalis was surprised at their reaction - that they thought that number was high, he thought it was far too low for comfort.

Interesting that Karalis' 25% is in line with the Kalshi 27% number up above.

It's the only decision based upon publicly available information that makes sense.

I think this blows over for a few weeks. Mid/end July things will be restored and Brown still part of this team.

I still believe (hope?) that BOS will not trade Brown just to trade him.  Trading Brown for Giannis would have made the team better (at least in my opinion).  There are other trades that could be done that would result in BOS being better, or at least no worse.  It take two to tango though and right now, it does not seem like other teams willing to make a fair trade for him.

I think the market will evolve but right now, I am leaning that Brown starts the season in BOS.  I get there is some tension but I think Brown will get over it if needed.  So yes, I think there is plenty of chance that Brown starts the season in BOS.  He may not finish the season, that is a different question.

I do not think for one second Brad did all of this behind Brown's back. I believe it was iniated by Brown at the May meeting. Brad has tried. Did not work. Now move ahead.

At this point, I think it's likely he returns. I just don't think Brad is an idiot, he won't dump Jaylen for nothing. If something materializes and another team comes to the table, sure, but otherwise I don't see that happening and they will just make amends. Jaylen's best chance at an extension IMO is staying here too, I think at this point even the league has hinted their feelings about it.

At this point I think its more likely than not that Brown is back next year.

The Celtics looked around to see if they could find a deal to make themselves better using Brown's contract. They obviously placed a high value on him asking for 4 or 5 pick in return. It doesn't appear anyone is meeting that price, so bring him back.

If all the C's do is bring Brown back and sign someone using the MLE/TPE then they'll be a really good team next year. They looked to see if someone would blow them away for Brown, nobody did, move on.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
There has been a concentrated media campaign to destroy Jaylen's value and it seems to have worked. Before the Giannis deal, the overwhelming sentiment was the Jaylen was better than the entire Miami package. Ever since that deal failed, the wolves have been coming out in full force to the point where Jaylen is getting massively underrated. I would assume in hopes the Celtics will sell him off for far less than he is worth.

So, at this point, I think the Celtics hold on to him. I don't think they recommit to him in the near term, but once all this negativity blows over and teams realize their deficiencies after free agency, it's entirely possible/likely teams re-engage Boston with real offers. And not just ones where they can easily win the trade against a desperate Celtics organization.

But if all of that fails, Jaylen is signed for 3 more years. I don't think he is going to sit out and he does have a great relationship with his teammates. The rumors will continue to swirl and I think that the Celtics eventually do move him, but it is looking like they can't move him right now. Not until teams get more reasonable about what they're willing to offer.
