There has been a concentrated media campaign to destroy Jaylen's value and it seems to have worked. Before the Giannis deal, the overwhelming sentiment was the Jaylen was better than the entire Miami package. Ever since that deal failed, the wolves have been coming out in full force to the point where Jaylen is getting massively underrated. I would assume in hopes the Celtics will sell him off for far less than he is worth.

So, at this point, I think the Celtics hold on to him. I don't think they recommit to him in the near term, but once all this negativity blows over and teams realize their deficiencies after free agency, it's entirely possible/likely teams re-engage Boston with real offers. And not just ones where they can easily win the trade against a desperate Celtics organization.

But if all of that fails, Jaylen is signed for 3 more years. I don't think he is going to sit out and he does have a great relationship with his teammates. The rumors will continue to swirl and I think that the Celtics eventually do move him, but it is looking like they can't move him right now. Not until teams get more reasonable about what they're willing to offer.

It is ESPN. Everyone one of their basketball people have worked their asses off to drive his value down.

Windy, SAS, that new Goodwiill dope, Bobby Marks...all of them. I think this stems from Brown calling them and SAS out.

JB went from a leader and great player in the media's eyes to a turd. Bobby Marks was actively bargaining on live TV for Giannis to go to Miami. ESPN worked to drive up what Boston's had to offer there and now are working to drive Brown's value down.

John Karalis guessed 25% chance Jaylen stays.

He said that on an interview with a Portland radio station / podcast and they were surprised the number was that high. Karalis was surprised at their reaction - that they thought that number was high, he thought it was far too low for comfort.

Interesting that Karalis' 25% is in line with the Kalshi 27% number up above.

At 3 to 1 odds, I?ll take that he stays with the team. Ultimately, Brad won?t get nearly what he wants for Brown and it all blows over. For now, there?s lots of links for people like me to click.

Free Agency officially begins tonight. I mean, if Jaylen is to be traded it has to be soon, right? They can't just let this drag on while teams are making moves left and right.

ya, the whole media thing with, we now have no choice but to trade Brown is bs. who says we have to??
Jaylen signed a 5-year supermax extension in 2023.
As of now, he has 3 seasons remaining on that contract.
Boston can simply let him play out those three years without offering another extension.
If they do nothing, he'd become an unrestricted free agent in the summer after that final season.
So there is no pressure to extend him now.

I hope we sign some pieces, I fear we are going to the be the kid at the toy store looking in the window but can't afford toys.

This has dragged out too long.   They over valued his value.   The rest of the league has never appreciated Jaylen.   Heck, they even changed the eligibility rules to cheat him out a first team.

I agree he could return to the team.  Sometimes the trade not made is the best one.

I am reading all kinds of crazy talk about the Celtics shopping JB to basically every team in the NBA.  So my question is,
do you think there is any chance at all we see JB stay with the Celtics?  Or, is this now way to far gone?

I think if you looked at all scenarios as probabilities, the probability of him staying is probably the highest of them all. I think we're falling victim to the media frenzy that has now focused on Jaylen since Giannis is off the table. All the talking heads are speculating about it, mostly without evidence or facts. All they - we - have is innuendo, Jaylen posted this on Instagram, Jaylen liked this on Twitter, Brad didn't make it explicit he's not trading him, an "anonymous league source" says Jaylen is unhappy, Jaylen didn't attend Deuce's birthday party, Jaylen is selling his house. And so on and so on. It's called apophenia - the tendency for the human brain to try and perceive meaningful patterns and connections with unrelated or random things

But think about it from Brad's point of view. Is he going to let a guy who is under control till 2028-29 - that's 3 more years - walk for anything less than a king's ransom in return? Just because the guy is "frustrated at the approach the Celtics took in 2025-26"? If he did that, without getting his money's worth and more, for an All-NBA, All-Star player, he would be hounded out of town for financial malpractice. Plus, whoever you get back needs to integrate into the team, which is always an "if". The Jays are a known commodity, we know they can play together. People will argue about the efficiency, but that works both ways - when people propose trades its always with the assumption that we are getting the best possible version of the incoming player, and that they will fit in to the locker room and the team seamlessly, which is always an if.

There's definitely a non-zero chance that Jaylen gets traded, but (to the disappointment of his many haters here) I think it's a lot lower than people think. Brad has to think, can I get a package that at least replaces the production: 29 points/7 rebounds/5 assists, ability to defend multiple positions, leadership, and synergy with the existing team? Then how many draft picks can I ask for? There's not that many players, or groups of players, around who can do that, which is why it's not easy to trade these types of players.

The reason it keeps dragging on is media and fans keep talking about it, because it's newsworthy in a time when everyone loves to speculate, propose trades, and team-build. I don't think Brad's doing anything to keep it going  :police:

Something that I do not think has been discussed is to ensure Brown comes back, does Stevens fall on his sword if the Celtics cannot make an adequate trade?

Hire a new GM and re-establish the relationship.

I think I'm gonna have to start a Fire Brad thread if he falls on his sword over this JB/Giannis saga

Kevin O'Connor agrees with you both.

He thinks there has been a co-ordinated effort to drive down the price for Jaylen Brown. He doesn't buy that all these execs are just coming out and saying Brown isn't as valuable as you think.

KOC also does not believe these teams are not interested in Jaylen Brown. He believes they will up their offers in due course because Jaylen is awesome and they want him.

Personally, If we are not getting minimum of 2 1st unprotected and one or two options to swap and someone who is legit 2nd, there is no point. Further, I would not trade him to teams who are stacked, we want him as the true number one and crap track record as an organization! Houston, San Antonio Even Detroit with Cade makes no sense. The picks would be bottom of round and almost worthless. Cavs absolutely not. Twolves would have been mistake too.

Kings..Blazers maybe, and other traditionally crappy teams are ideal.

But, if it were me,  Keep Brown and let?s see the dynamic duo grow more together. Trading him for a bag of balls makes no sense.Jaylen took a step up this year as leader, that with full season of Tatum could be very special. Healthy Brown and Tatum means you always have a chance.

You don't always have to throw everybody away at the slightest sign of adversity.

Just a thought.
