There really was no market for Morant, but I'm surprised that Portland is taking a swing.

It reminds me of what Bobby Marks said on ESPN the other day. New owners are always hard to predict. They often like to make big trades at the start of their tenure. He was talking about his new owner in Brooklyn and trying to force through the Carmelo Anthony trade which eventually became the Deron Williams trade.

New owner in POR wanted to make a splash. He got his star - Ja Morant. Let's see if doubles down with Jaylen Brown.

I just don't see a return anywhere that makes the C's better by moving JB.  Picks are great but it's a step back.  I think JB and his BS in the media is turning teams off.  No one wants to deal with a headache and right now JB is being one. 

This deal is really bad for both teams.  Zero return for Memphis.  They turned a good defensive team in Portland to a terrible one.  If Dame makes it back to his Milwaukee self then they will be fun to watch and really can attack the rim and shoot the ball.

That's crazy that Morant's value was tanked where it's basically for Jerami Grant...

Murray is a meh bench player too. Upside, but that's about it.

I don't think it is a factor. It is age and contract. Guys like JB just have a lower value than we thought. I think it would be same with equivalent players like Devin Booker and Donovan Mitchell if they were on the trade market. Those guys just below franchise player level and hanging around the 30yo age mark with huge contract extensions on the horizon. Bad mix.

To Memphis Jerami Grant 2026/27: $34.2M 2027/28: $37.2M (P) Kris Murray 2026/27: $5.3M

So some savings there for MEM. About $7.7mil in 2027-28 and $2.7 million this season.

Not much for such a huge talent downgrade.

Jrue was terrific for them when he played last year.  If they are trying to be a little more veteran of a team, I expect he sticks.  But the idea of Jrue being traded from Portland to Boston to Portland to Boston three times since fall of 2023 greatly amuses me.

I don?t think Brad that?s keeping the circus going though? That?s the media. And fans like us. And both groups are spreading news, which is basically speculation because let?s be honest. We love this time of year, and we love the drama and gossip
