I'm wondering why nobody wants Jaylen.

I wrote this on the repeated tax thread

Quote
Jaylen Brown = 3yrs $180mil
LaMelo Ball = 3yrs $130mil

$50mil cheaper to have LaMelo at the 25% max contract versus Jaylen at the 30% supermax contract.

I think Jaylen's contract is lowering his trade desirability. A number of teams are scared off / unwilling to give up as much in a trade due to his contract. I don't think BOS has the offers some people are expecting.

I think this is playing a big role.

--------------

I forget who it was but someone was talking about only title contenders are willing to pay $60-70mil a year for Jaylen. The teams trying to make the playoffs want the cheaper stars at $40-50mil. They don't want to pay Jaylen all that money just make the playoffs. You pay that money because he gets you a ring.

Then a number of teams who in play for a Championship struggle with their own payroll and to have enough assets to make an attractive offer to Boston.

I've heard the Sengun trade idea, but what about Durant? Would Houston trade Durant and two 1st round picks for Brown? Houston has some enticing draft capital from prior trades. I know Durant is a shorter window, but the picks could help get someone else in a trade or be a possible future player in the draft.
