WHAT???!!

I thought BOS had it in the bag. I am shocked they chose that MIA package over Jaylen Brown. Terrible decision by MIL.

And thank god for it! I did not want to trade Jaylen for Giannis. I don't think Giannis is worth Jaylen. Too old, too many injury issues, too awkward to play with.

We still have our Celtics! Tatum & Jaylen forever!

Screw Giannis!

I wanted Giannis, but I'm also glad it's over. In all honesty, that is a trash deal for Milwaukee. Giannis is basically going back into purgatory, just in a different city. At least in Miami, they'll let him try to score 80.

Why the heck did MIL trade Portis too?

That is a money big man rotation for Miami. Bam, Giannis and Portis. Beautiful. The versatility of that group. The athleticism. The defense. Love it.

MIL did MIA a big favour gifting them Portis. Those backup big slots would have proven to be a problem for MIA.

So now Miami has Bam-Giannis.

Their roster is still iffy but that is a formidable front court. Knicks have it. Cavaliers have it. Pistons have it. Sixers have it.

Brad absolutely has to revamp this front court regardless to contend with these East teams and their front courts. Queta is fine but ideally they need another capable big man, probably two even if they aren?t superstar level

Who plays PF for MIL now?

They have struggled whenever they played small ball. Portis could at least hold it down alongside M Turner. Kyle Kuzma couldn't. I don't think Jaquez can either. That big man rotation is exposed without Portis.

G: Ryan Rollins, K Porter Jr
G: Tyler Herro, Gary Trent Jr, Kasparas Jakucionis
F: J Jaquez, AJ Green
F: Kyle Kuzma, Ousmane Dieng
C: M Turner, K Ware

That is a 20 win team.

Edit: I forgot Tyler Herro.

Enjoy mediocrity, Giannis and Bam.

It was definitely not a no-brainer for us, given his injury history, playing style, and age. But I was still pulling for it.

But, yeah, now we have a JB problem. I?m not necessarily thrilled with the other rumored landing spots and trade ideas for him.

Brad blew it.

More like Milwaukee ownership blew it.  It's the Browns / Haslam influence.

I mean Miami fleeced Mil here. It?s unbelievable they got Portis too in this deal.

I'm assuming Brad had a backup plan. How will he pivot to help improve this team?

Miami Heat

G: Davion Mitchell, (FA)
G: Norm Powell, Dru Smith
F: Andrew Wiggins, Pelle Larsson
F: Giannis, N Jovic
C: Bam Adebayo, B Portis

Getting Bobby Portis is a huge coup for their bench. They also kept Pelle Larsson which gives them a solid backup SF. Dru Smith outplayed Jakucionis last year and is a decent backup SG. So they have a 6th man of the year candidate backup big and two average bench players at SG & SF.

That is a better bench than I expected them to have. I thought they would lose Larsson in the trade. I did not expect them to get Portis. Portis is a coup.

Miami kept Jovic as well. He has had flashes of being a good player but never sustained quality play. Still, a somewhat useful bench piece to keep hold of. More depth for MIA.
