Shockingly, Lebron seems to be dragging this thing out while, simultaneously, pumping out PR about where he might go.  Currently headlining the ESPN webpage.  Shams positing about voice notes from teams last night.

He's turning it into "The Decision 2.0"

It's like 4.0 at this point, isn't it?

At least 3.0.  Going to the Lakers always felt predetermined to me.

It's more than likely all been predetermined, just not disclosed!
Yup

After spending a full season with the Brooklyn Nets, the former Denver Nuggets sharpshooter Michael Porter Jr. could find himself on the move once again.

According to Brooklyn Nets insider Brian Lewis for the New York Post, a lack of an extension for Porter Jr. could lead to a trade sooner rather than later. "There's either an extension or a trade," Lewis said on the Locked On Nets podcast.

Jake Fischer: There has been word this morning in Las Vegas that Victor Wembanyama is considering signing less than his maximum rookie scale extension to provide San Antonio greater financial flexibility. Victor Wembanyama: Spurs family, I?m here to stay. Whatever it takes🖤

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

NBA Courtside

Paul Pierce says if LeBron James goes to the Sixers it takes him totally out the GOAT debate: "No player that we consider that's been in a GOAT debate has been a fourth option. No, seriously. Like Jordan, even when he went to the Wizards, was still the first option. Kareem was second option. Worh Magic. Like when we start having these debates about the GOAT and we say, we?ll, you know, Philly won a championship, but he was fourth option. He has five rings but fourth and fifth option, like so it?ll do something to his legacy. I really believe that."

Kareem was the 4th option his final 2 years. Magic, Worthy, B Scott were all around 20ppg. Kareem was 15ppg and then 10ppg his final two years. AC Green had 13ppg to make Kareem the 5th leading scorer in Kareem's last season.

I guess Bill Russell is not included in this GOAT discussion. He was 7th in scoring on his own team his final year. Before that, 4th in scoring in 1968, then 5th in 1967, 4th again in 1966. 3rd in 1965. 4th in 1964. Back to 3rd in 1963. 2nd in scoring in 1962 although 1st in the playoffs. Back in 1958, he was 4th in regular season and 5th in playoffs. 4th in his rookie year in 1957.

Yossi Gozlan: The Nets are now down to $11.75 million in cap space after officially trading Nic Claxton and Isaiah Evans for Julius Randle and Joshua Jefferson.

Does anyone have cap space at this point?

Peyton Watson's market looks like it has disappeared. He will need a S+T or a friendly Nuggets offer at this point. The Clippers say DEN is asking for too much in a S+T so that route looks unlikely too.

Shams Charania: Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation in Las Vegas on Friday in which Adebayo struck Herro, sources tell ESPN.
Quote
Shams Charania: The altercation occurred at a practice court in a Las Vegas hotel this morning, sources said -- starting when Adebayo approached Herro about comments the guard made critiquing the center on social media after their seven-year run in Miami ended.

Some fan released private messages he exchanged with Tyler Herro where Herro said some things. Not sure what. It wasn't meant to be public but the other guy released them.

Something about their "$60mil player" not being able to be a 1st option. Stuff like that.

There also was a post a week ago which showed Giannis as the worst midrange shooter in the league and Bam as the 10th worst.

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has agreed to a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale contract extension, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Friday.

The deal includes a player option in the fifth season, sources said. Wembanyama decided on the 25% maximum instead of the 30% supermax escalators to $303 million after he and the Spurs went through multiple frameworks, sources said. The deal could potentially save the Spurs roughly $50 million over the next five years.

"Spurs family, I'm here to stay," Wembanyama posted on social media Friday. "Whatever it takes."

I can't believe that agents and players are alllwing owners to cry poverty and give back deserved compensation like this.

Awful for the league. SAS already have a huge advantage with Wemby on a max contract given he is far more valuable than what the max allows.

This is a form a cheating as far as I am concerned.

Players should be shamed for doing this. Not celebrated.

It's bad precedent for other players. Teams can say that not even Wemby is getting the full max, why should we give it to you?

It may not even matter in the end if Wemby doesn't hit 65 games this year - which is always a possibility with him - but it still feels wrong.

Guys on De'Aaron Fox's level not requiring the max? Sure, yeah, that makes sense. Top 3 player in the league? That just feels wrong. It's gonna be hilarious when Steph Castle or Harper make All-NBA and request the full 30%
