I could see 50-53 wins for the Celtics, but yeah it's also true George's durability (and maybe Tatum too with his leg/Achilles) + the fact that most of the league also got better and won't have much incentive to tank will factor in. If I had to predict it right now, I'd lean 48-34 and maybe in the 4-6 seed range.

I don't get it, why would replacing Brown with Tatum + George, signing Mitchell Robinson, and returning the rest of the roster result in 8 fewer wins? Presumably Hugo and Baylor will only progress as well. How does most of the league get better at the same time?

Or is the idea that we just over-performed in general and are bound to regress?

Remember that it's replacing Brown + Simons with Tatum + probably about a half season of George and a half season of Mitchell, based upon their recent histories.

I think the team is better than the start of the regular season last year. Trying to say they are not feels a bit drastic to try and hate the trade. Now they may have a worse regular season record due to load management and a more competitive league. Having great regular seasons has not helped too much the last couple
Of seasons so the real question is will we be better come playoff time. And then in my opinion the answer is no because I do not think Robinson closes the gap between Brown and George and that is when we will miss the secondary creation from
JB. Time will tell though and I am sure I will get my hopes up.

UPDATE: The trade to make him a Maverick is still pending, but league sources say Tarik Biberović has informed Fenerbah?e he?s leaving for the NBA. After acquiring him from Memphis, Dallas is expected to sign Biberović to a two-year, $6 million deal with a team option in Year 2.

6 foot 7 shooter. Shoots 40+% on high volume of threes.

Kris Middleton now back with Washington

Bad signing. They don't need his old butt.

He is an offense-only player nowadays and a defensive liability. WAS have enough offense. He won't be of value to them.

Quote
Josh Robbins: The second season on Khris Middleton's new three-year sign-and-trade deal with the Wizards will be partially guaranteed, while the third season will be non-guaranteed, per source.

Quote
Grant Afseth: One thing I learned about Khris Middleton from people with the Washington Wizards is just how valuable he was as a mentor. He proved to be a helpful presence for Cooper Flagg during his time in Dallas. It's easy to see why the Wizards wanted him back.

Quote
Shams Charania: Just in: Free agent Khris Middleton has agreed on a three-year, $17.6 million deal with the Washington Wizards via sign-and-trade,

-----------

So Middleton is moving in this 6 team trade thing. It looks like it is just previous signings / trades being merged into one big thing to allow multiple teams keep their TPEs.

Quote
Marc Stein: By helping Khris Middleton get to Washington via sign-and-trade, Dallas can acquire Santi Aldama and Marcus Sasser without touching its $20.3M TPE from the Anthony Davis trade or its $15M MLE. The Mavs can then formally sign Tarik Biberović after the six-team trade is official.

Quote
Memphis also gets to keep its massive $28.9 million traded player exception. The TPE was gained from the Feb. 3 trade that resulted in Jaren Jackson Jr. going to the Utah Jazz.

This includes the signing of Isaiah Stewart to Memphis.

Quote
Shams

It involves previously agreed upon deals such as John Collins, Gary Harris and Taurean Prince (Detroit), Isaiah Stewart (Memphis), Santi Aldama (Mavericks), Caris LeVert (Bucks), etc.

I missed that Caris LeVert one.

So Detroit saved $7mil in the deal. They can now sign Duren to the max and stay below their target (luxury tax or 1st apron? Not sure). But they are happy.

MIL picked up two 2nd rounders for helping out.

Quote
Milwaukee has decided to trade Taurean Prince and Gary Harris to the Detroit Pistons for Caris LeVert and two second-round picks. Detroit will also receive a $15 million trade exception.

And this appears to be a new addition to the trade

Quote
Shams Charania: As part of the elaborate six-team trade, the Washington Wizards are sending D'Angelo Russell, a future second-round pick and a future second-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies, sources tell ESPN.

Good news for D-Lo. He was behind Trae & Bub Carrington in Washington. He will have more opportunity in Memphis. Still has to compete with Scottie Pippen Jr and Ty Jerome though.

Oh, and Sasser was in the deal. He went to Dallas. That should be the end of Brandon Williams in Dallas if BOS are still interested at all. He would be a good backup PG. Better than Conley.

The John Collins to Clippers signing was also part of this trade.

Michael Scotto: Free agent forward Guerschon Yabusele has agreed to a three-year deal with Panathinaikos, league sources told @hoopshype.

I am happy to see Yabu go back to Europe. His NBA return did not really work out. He played well offensively but struggled on team defense. Not quick enough with all that extra weight he is carrying.

I think if he stayed in the NBA the same thing would have happened. Started the season as a rotation player. Dropped to a 3rd stringer. Traded as a cap filler or cap dump. Finishes season on a lousy team. It is not a fulfilling life as a competitor. Playing a major role on European team will be more fulfilling.

Detroit's bench

G: Daniss Jenkins, Ebuka Okorie
G: Isaiah Joe, Garry Harris
F: Kevin Huerter, Ron Holland
F: Taureen Prince
C: Paul Reed

I like the Caris LeVert for Taureen Prince swap for DET. Removes a dodgy shooter in LeVert and opens up more space for Huerter. Also gives them a bigger wing in T Prince who can play some small ball PF as well as some SF.

Pistons have added shooting. Have NOT addressed the lack of a 2nd option. Have NOT addressed the lack of secondary playmaking on their team outside of Cade (and Jenkins).

Dallas' bench

G: Marcus Sasser, Ryan Nembhard
G: Klay Thompson, S de Larrea
F: Naji Marshall, Caleb Martin, Biberovic
F: Santi Aldama
C: Dan Gafford

Sasser is a very good pickup. I love his game. A 3+D small guard. Ryan Nembhard more of a traditional PG. A 3rd option at PG with de Larrea as a big 6-6 PG. 3 different skill-sets dependent on need.

Naji, Aldama, Gafford are each among the best in the league at their positions off the bench. That is a strong bench. Klay and Caleb Martin for depth too.

MEM's bench
- I having trouble keeping track of them

G: Ty Jerome / S Pippen Jr, W Clayton Jr, D'Angelo Russell
G: KCP, Cam Spencer, AJ Johnson
F: Kris Murray, OM Prosper
F: Jerami Grant, Taylor Hendricks
C: Isaiah Stewart

* offer sheet to Q Post still pending.
* KCP's buyout still pending.

Bucks full roster

G: R Rollins, K Porter Jr
G: T Herro, Brayden Burries
F: K Kuzma, C LeVert
F: J Jaquez, O Dieng
C: Myles Turner, Kel'el Ware

Others: Kasparas Jakucionis, AJ Green, Nate Ament, Bogoljub Markovic, Jericho Sims

They got some extra guards there. Someone should try offering them something for one of them.

I like LeVert for Milwaukee. They need some extra creation on the wing. Some ball-handling. MIL have a strange mix of middling scoring with Kuzma, Jaquez, and LeVert at forward. K Porter Jr adds to this from the backcourt.
