Not a lot left on the Center market.
Claxton--> Traded to Chicago
Sharpe--> Re-signed in Brooklyn
Stewart--> Traded to Memphis
R Williams--> Re-signed in Portland
Nurkic--> Re-signed in Utah
Ayton--> Opted in with Los Angeles
M Williams--> Re-signed with Phoenix
Porzingis--> Re-signed with Golden State
Horford--> Re-signed with Golden State
Reid--> Traded to Charlotte
Only guy left who really interests me at anywhere close to MLE is Mitchell Robinson.
And M Robinson is an injury prone guy who is almost as bad as Timelord. M Robinson's last 4 seasons are 60 games played, 17 games, 31 games, 59 games. A total of 167 games in 4 years. Roughly 50% of the available games.
I don't trust his body at all. I don't want to invest in him. He has played the lowest minutes of his career these past 2 years. He still looks gassed every game after playing only a few minutes. I don't think he can stay healthy particularly if he has to play more minutes moving forward.
M Robinson is the only remaining option on the FA market and it is a crap option.
The only other guy that I can think of in FA is Mamu.
Besides that, trade and TPE is really the only other avenue.
Ya good call, forgot about Mamu. I'd be fine with him on something around the MLE, he was really good last year.
Mamu's defense is worse than Vucevic's defense. People are going to hate Mamu once they see him try to defend someone like Embiid in the playoffs or try and fail to protect the basket as a shot-blocker.
San Antonio got rid of Mamu because he could not play defense. That is why they brought in Kornet.
Toronto benched Mamu in the playoffs because he couldn't defend anyone or play useful team defense. They went small with the rookie forward at center over playing Mamu.
Mamu is a good offensive player with terrible defense. Much like Luka Garza.
Maybe he's that bad, but looking at defensive EPM it had him MUCH better rated than either Garza (10th percentile) or Vucevic (41st). EPM actually had him as a better than average defender. It had him in the 70th percentile.
Now of course EPM isn't everything, but it doesn't paint him as some horrible defender.
In any case I think i role would be more change of pace backup for Queta, so the defense thing bothers me less.
DARKO and LEBRON (two other respected advanced metrics) also had him as a positive defender last year, much better than either Garza or Vucevic.
