I think Brad told him in May they are not doing the extension this summer. JB was insulted and felt snubbed. And away we went.

[Haynes] via NBATV Trade talks with the Portland Trail Blazers concerning Jaylen Brown are ?non-existent? at this time. There are trade discussions for Brown ongoing with the Nuggets who have "deep interest" in acquiring Brown.

Whatever that means lol

Jaylen Brown news from the always reliable
@AdamHimmelsbach
: "A league source said that Brown has grown frustrated with the organization?s approach following a season in which he guided the Celtics to 56 wins while Jayson Tatum was sidelined for months with an Achilles injury."

In fairness, he's not wrong there. They reverted back to the 3-point philosophy in the postseason and went away from what worked in the regular season. During the season, their 3-pointers and reliance on them went down a bit and was neutralized. We've been critical of Mazzulla's philosophy and I think Jaylen is too.

I am not sure he is upset with the play style. Brown took 42 3s in the series vs Philly. I take it more as he is tired of the Cs prefering JT over JB.

But my question to JB is how come he couldn't lead the Celtics to Game 7 wins in 2023 and 2026? No answer? There we go

Is it possible it?s because nobody else on the team stepped up? I believe JB had over 30 points. I remember a ton of missed shots by others on the team.
Brown isn?t a perfect player. He turns the ball over to much and not a great free throw shooter, but he?s second team all NBA and 6th in MVP voting.
I don?t think Tatum would have lead that team, the way the rest of them played to a win in game seven, but we?ll never know. Once again, he didn?t suit up for it.

Either they are trying to drive the price down or JB has no value around the league:

An anonymous NBA GM currently value Jaylen Brown at ?40 cents on the dollar? per @ShamsCharania

"I can't find a team right now that is willing at this moment to give up that amount of draft capital. So then it just becomes are Brad Stevens

This is just insanity. Sit down Brad, JB and etc and get this fixed. No one in the league values Brown. Just work this out and keep him.

Brown's feud with ESPN and SAS has driven his value down. Every report from the ESPN ass jacks has been them destroying him. This is their revenge.

No one is going to give Boston a good deal now. And this is going to drag on and on over the summer. So tired of it.

Looks like Boston has their own "AJ Brown" situation or "Giannis 2.0" situation to deal with in Jaylen Brown  :-X

Timelord = 294 games played in 8 years

An average of 37 games a year. For his career.

Not really, unless he's willing to sit out the next three years.

Keith Smith: De'Anthony Melton declined his player option with the Golden State Warriors, a league source told @spotrac . Melton will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Melton was good for GSW when he was available but he always bloody injured.

Keith Smith: The Los Angeles Lakers declined their team option for Nick Smith Jr., a league source told @spotrac . Smith will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Detroit Free Press

The Pistons do not intend to trade the 22-year-old restricted free agent, based on conversations with multiple people who spoke with the Free Press on the condition of anonymity.

Duren is reportedly preparing to meet with the Sacramento Kings to open the door for a sign-and-trade, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

There is a high degree of confidence within the Pistons' organization that Duren will ultimately re-sign with the team.

Sam Amick

To add on here, I?m told that Jalen Duren very much wants to play in Sacramento and Kings big man Domantas Sabonis is likewise interested in the prospect of landing with the Pistons.

The players are interested but is DET interested?

That could also mean exploring a trade for Washington center Anthony Davis to help lure James, though there has yet to be tangible movement on that front, league sources said.

ESPN

Harrison Barnes will stay in San Antonio

Quote
Shams Charania: Free agent forward Harrison Barnes intends to sign a one-year, $8 million deal to stay with the San Antonio Spurs, sources tell ESPN. The Spurs valued Barnes' leadership and production as he enters a third season in San Antonio

$8mil is a good payday. Not sure he is more than a minimum contract player at this juncture in his payday.

Eric Nehm: Gary Trent Jr. did not opt in to his contract for the 2026-27 season with the Milwaukee Bucks before today's deadline, which makes him an unrestricted free agent, a league source tells @TheAthletic.

That is interesting. There were reports several days ago that he opted in. Then reports the last 2 days saying he did not. So clarity. Gary Trent did not opt in. He will be a FA.

Good news for MIL. They have a ton of SGs.

Shams Charania: Free agent sharpshooter Kevin Huerter intends to sign a three-year, $27 million deal to return to the Detroit Pistons, sources tell ESPN.

Omari Sankofa II: Per source, the third year for Kevin Huerter is a team option.

Why re-sign him? Didn't he play like crap for DET?

----------------

I am trying to make sense of DET's wing situation

PG: Cade Cunningham, Daniss Jenkins, Ebuka Okorie
PG trade fodder: Marcus Sasser

SG: Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Joe, Kevin Huerter
SF: Ausar Thompson, Caris LeVert, Ron Holland

They are loaded in wing depth. They effectively have 6 rotation caliber wings. There is still chance that they waive Duncan Robinson since only a small part of his contract is guaranteed but he is their 2nd best wing after Ausar Thompson. I don't think that is going to help them. I'd rather pay Duncan Robinson than give that money to Kevin Huerter.

Bargain deal, hoping for a bounce back season?

Because they traded for him and need to prove to themselves that they were correct.  Glad there has been no sign of us doing that with Vooch.

I can see the case for him having a bounce back year but there isn't even a clear role for him on the team. Why pay a guy more than the minimum when you are not a clear cut rotation player for them?

I was just looking at his stats to see how bad his shooting numbers were. 29% 3PT for DET. 30% for the season. But it was actually his 2nd down season in a row. He only shot 33% the year before.

So Huerter is averaging 32.4% 3PT his last 2 years (his main skill) compared to 38.2% his first 6 years in the league.
