Acquiring Ja Morant feels like a set-up trade to me given all the Jaylen Brown rumors in Portland. Now the Blazers could feel more comfortable sending Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson, and Shaedon Sharpe with draft picks to Boston for Jaylen Brown. We'll see what happens.

Someone genuinely needs to explain to me what the additional moves are after this, because this is an underwhelming package. If there's no Camara/Clingan, then I'm at a loss as to what the plan is unless it's basically a rebuild.

Minor move

Quote
Eric Nehm: The Milwaukee Bucks are declining the team option on Andre Jackson Jr. for next season, making him an unrestricted free agent, a team source tells @TheAthletic .

Clippers interested in keeping Beal

Quote
Law Murray: Bradley Beal has chosen unrestricted free agency The LA Clippers will maintain interest in retaining him Beal played six games last season, all as a starter on a strict minute restriction that kept him out of fourth quarters, before undergoing season ending hip surgery in November.

Thomas Bryant to stay in CLE

Quote
Shams Charania: Free agent center Thomas Bryant intends to sign a one-year deal to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN. Bryant averaged 12.2 minutes and 6.2 points over 60 games for the Cavs

Charlotte keep Connaughton

Quote
Rod Boone: #Hornets are picking up the $3.8 million team option on Pat Connaughton's contract, league sources told @theobserver. The veteran was a huge voice in the locker room this past season and Charlotte even brought him back after he got caught in a roster crunch at trade deadline.

Update on Kawhi to Toronto talks

Quote
Michael Grange: Plenty of noise around Kawhi Leonard/Clippers/Raptors *potential* deal, but my understanding is second-year wing Ja?Kobe Walter would NOT be part of any deal the Raptors might make, per sources. It almost goes without saying prize rookie Colin Murray-Boyles is off limits also

Good decision. I feel B Ingram for Kawhi is a fair swap by itself given the age & injury history of Kawhi. I don't see why Toronto should be putting further assets into the trade.

Free agent center Jusuf Nurkic intends to sign a two-year, $22 million contract to return to the Utah Jazz, sources tell ESPN. Nurkic thrived in coach Will Hardy's system and was excited about the Jazz new look roster. Utah officials worked through the deal with Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul on Monday.

Waste of money.

Where does Filipowski fit into all this? Where does his minutes come from?

I thought Utah would start a giant frontcourt with three 7 footers with Markkanen, Jaren Jackson, Kessler ... but ... I only expected them to play a few minutes together to start each half. Then one comes out and two remain as the bigs. With those 3 guys getting 90% of their minutes at PF & C.

Now you throw Nurkic into that. So Markkanen is going to have play long minutes at SF. Probably at least half of his minutes at SF if not more (with rest at PF). And Filipowski is out in the cold. Or Filipowski gets some backup PF minutes and Markkanen gets 100% of his minutes at SF.

It's impossible to know, but there could potentially be some okay moves out there.  For instance, a trade where we get Jrue, Scoot, and Sharpe plus several #1s, and then flip Sharpe and some of our own #1s to NOP for Murphy III.

Shams said Portland is not interested in Brown now.

I do not see any suitors out there worth trading him to. Clippers have nothing. Nets have nothing. Denver won't move Murray.

Most likely he is a Celtic

Their new owner has already proven to be unorthodox, to say the least.

I guess Brad will enter FA with JB as a Celtic. Will be interesting what he does.

My guess is the Celtics go get a big immediately with most of their FA money.
