I don't think I've ever seen a Boston sports star get less love from his own fanbase than JB.  David Price, maybe.  But Price meant less to the Red Sox than JB has to the Celtics - and was certainly around for much less time.

Sad, honestly.

Well, the irrational need their scapegoat, [dang it].

Does anyone honestly believe this was his favorite year because he saw Tatum overcome his injury?

Who believes that?

He was posting all year long how the team had the same record as last year at the all-star break , while getting rid of holiday, Horford,  porzingis  etc.

It's his favorite year because he got to have his "shine " as he puts it...

Yeah, he posted this graphic on his Instagram back in February. He didn't say anything outrageous, but he was certainly proud that he was leading this team to a similar record to last year despite losing so much talent:

Should he not of been proud of himself and his team?  He was balling, and saw a bunch of his teammates stepping up and showing they belong as NBA players.  I would hope he was proud.

Sounds like someone got a call from Brad. I?m sure Stevens didn?t like being asked about the comments made by T-Mac.

Damage control.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think people are just tired of his antics, on and off the court. JB does not seem very mature for someone who is turning 30. He lacks self awareness.

Oh, for sure. But I also think some people saw it as him taking most of the credit for how well the team performed this year, not that the coaching and team overall has done so well. Just taking this season where Jaylen will be top 6 in MVP voting, he finished with a negative on/off rating. That is fairly remarkable since White was one of the league leaders in that category and they both played similar minutes.

I do think Jaylen played better than advanced stats show and he proved to be a great leader for this young team, just giving additional context from 'the other side'.

Relative to antics that occur with other athletes, don't you think Jaylen's are pretty mild and would you agree that the guy has put in more effort - especially as a seasoned veteran - than most?  I know in the past he's made some questionable comments (non-basketball related) but speaking to the recent expressions of frustration or making critical comments about refs, or maybe overstating his greatness - these are aren't him getting into trouble with the law, domestic discord or violence (violence of any kind), drug or alcohol issues, causing discord among teammates (not that I know of).  He wants to be the best he can be; he wants to win. Yes - it seems like being the best he can be might be slightly prioritized over team goals, but overall his antics really aren't antics.  It's more about who JB is, which is a guy who isn't always going to be the model for saying the things we wish he would say.   It's been a gift to have the Jays - good citizens who work hard, want to win, and are really terrific players. And they won a championship.  Hope they stay.

I hope my posts are not coming off as being down on Brown.  I love him as a player.  He was top 10 in the league this season, really stepped up.  Plays hard, all that.  But he is an imperfect player.  And I have never bought into the theory that he isn't good paired with Tatum.

For me, it is questioning whether he wants a bigger role and some of the other off court statements and things.  Nothing egregious in my mind, just some unnecessary stuff.  The discussion (among other things) is about potentially trading him for Giannis, a past league MVP.  And if not Giannis, maybe there is another package of some really good players that he could be potentially traded for.

I will not be disappointed if he is not traded.  But it is the off season (for BOS anyway) and speculating about highly unlikely trades is what fans do in the off season.

quite sad.

the guy gives his all for this team and tries to improve his game every year.  finds happiness in having a team significantly exceed expectations and gets hammered for it.  just ridiculous amount of hatred for him

Agreed.

Like I said the other day, it's been a clownshow around here the past few days.
