More smoke with JB to the Pels...

JB to NO

Murphy, Murray and draft picks to Boston.

"IF the Pelicans aggressively pursue Jaylen Brown, the blueprint for their blockbuster trade offer would center directly around the following, per
@ScoopB

- Dejounte Murray
- Trey Murphy III
- Significant draft capital"

That doesn't seem like enough.

How did Dejounte Murray look after his return from injury?

A D Murray, D White, Pritchard backcourt would be interesting. A two forward combo of Trey Murphy and Jayson Tatum would be good. Maybe try to get Herbert Jones as well since NOP is not giving up a top player for Jaylen. Then you have a 3 man forward rotation there too. Queta at center. FA backup center.

G: Dejounte Murray, Pritchard
G: D White, Baylor
F: Trey Murphy, (Herb Jones), J Walsh
F: Tatum, Hugo
C: Queta, (FA)

Update:
Here are some highlights (3min) from Dejounte Murray last season. It looks like he is still moving well from those clips. Some acrobatic drives / finishes. Some quick feet on defense for steals.

Edit: Didn't D White and D Murray play together in San Antonio? It was a bit dysfunctional back them if I remember right but that was because neither could shoot the 3. D White can now. Should be fine now. Two big guards. Murray more of a tall thin guard than big. Quick though and can cover smaller quicker guards better than D White or Pritchard or at least he could before the injury.

Speaking of Zion, apparently Jake Fischer said today that the Pelicans are interested in Jaylen Brown. Interesting with the rumor that we are interested in Trey Murphy III. I doubt any of this is really of any substance, but still fun to talk about.

I wonder if the offer could be Zion + Trey Murphy given how bad Zion's injury issues have been.

Zion and Murphy for Jaylen and Hauser would be intriguing, I'm not gonna lie. People would lose their minds, but the potential would be wild

I?d be fine with that trade. Then bring KP back. Load manage until the playoffs.

I'm not keen on relying on Zion and KP to both be healthy to have a shot at a good season and a title

They just need them healthy for the playoffs. I think KP is the bigger risk at this point, but they need his size and floor spacing to combat Wemby.

and you expect them to be healthy after an 82 game season for which neither has accomplished in years OR are you planning on wrapping them in bubblewrap for the season just to break them out for the playoffs under the assumption they managed not to injure themselves in practice, walking down the street or just plain old breathing?

If they sign Rob too the chances one the three are able to play in the playoffs jumps to about 25%.

I am not sure floor spacing centers make that much of a difference against Wemby. Spurs just switch him off the floor spacing C and have him defend the corner shooter.

OKC tried the same thing with Chet. SAS switched Wemby onto whoever was in the corner. Usually Dort or someone like that. Let Wemby help off the corners. He was still hugely disruptive defensively from that position.

agreed.  only way to make SAS pay for that is to have a great passer in the corner that can hit a big man running to the hoop for some easy/unchallenged buckets.  force Wemby to play the center and take him as far away from the hoop as possible.  truly a 5-out offense.  Joe's just dying to do it.

Tatum at center against Wemby?

Tatum would probably one of the better defenders against Wemby. He could stifle Wemby's face up game / driving game. He can check him on the perimeter. And Wemby doesn't post up much.

Like Team USA when they put Kevin Durant at center against France / Gobert and forced Gobert to defend either Durant or Tatum out on the perimeter. Do the same to Wemby.

I think Tatum is our best defender against Wemby. I think he'd do better than Queta who is likely to struggle against Wemby's perimeter game. Horford would have been ideal against Wemby. Such a versatile defender Horford.

Timelord did a pretty good job against Wemby round 1. Rob is still a very good defender. I would love to bring him back.

Julian Champagnie was really bad all game. The coach played Barnes zero minutes. A guy that has won a championship and averaged 26mpg during the regular season.

This coach is a moron.

Not as bad as Keldon Johnson who should never see a basketball court again. Yikes. Spurs Nation itching to get rid of KJ and Fox before their dynasty begins

There was a thread here a few weeks back where we were talking about Jaylen trades and a couple of people actually thought that a Fox/Keldon trade made sense for the Cs lol. No, I am not making this up.

I guess they were right, though. Fox and Keldon would fit in perfectly with how we've played and blown leads recently.

I don't really want to see a Spurs dynasty - and this puts that possibility off for another year - but we are never going to hear the end of this Knicks championship. Who else is still talking about winning a single Title over 50 years ago?

Fox had a boneheaded play at the end where he tried to force a layup and should have dribbled out, but other than that he played pretty well. 18pts/7ast/5rebs/2st/1blk. Fox and Wemby were the only starters with positive +/-. He also won game 3 for the spurs, so if it wasn?t for him they?d already be eliminated. Sounds like you did not watch the games.

Keldon Johnson has been bad this series. I do agree with that.

You're joking, right? Yeah, let's do it then. Fox and Keldon for Jaylen. That Fox contract is going to age like milk. What a great move by him to insist on playing for the Spurs. San Antonio should have taken their time to find a better option moving forward. They rushed it with Fox because he expressed the desire to play for them. He's a decent player, but not a 4yr/$229M dollar player. Sorry, I'm not going to back off from that

This is a perfect moment for a buy low and sell high opportunity. We could demand a boatload of the juicy picks the Spurs have acquired.
