Trust him as much as I trust Tatum, maybe more honestly. Both overrated though

Trade value will never be higher
Should have been moved last offseason if it was possible especially if you could have landed the Jazz or SA pick plus
Both draft picks nba all rookie

Brown is limited fundamentally and can?t play above the rim
Trade him !

This is quite a tricky question, but I'll answer.

I don't trust Brown to lead the Cs as the main leader. But I don't trust Tatum either. Both are not the alpha male the Cs need.

Brown was instrumental in 2024 when Tatum didn't play well and the Cs win it all. In  2025 they didn't do well together in the playoff. In 2026 we may say Tatum played better than Brown in the playoff but Brown has shown he could lead the non Tatum team to the playoff  (which I doubt Tatum would be able to do the same if Brown were injured).

I like Brown because he keeps learning and become more efficient, except for the dribble turnover. That he developed and perfected the midrange and reduced his 3pt shot is a testament to it. I trust that he will keep improving in 2027 too.

My observation is in the playoff s Tatum and Brown never played well together in the series the Cs eventually lost. Either Tatum played well and Brown didn't or vice versa, or neither of them played well. In 2025 when they finally win it all Tatum struggled in most of the Finals games.

I think one of the Jays must go and I'd prefer to keep Brown. We just need the no 1 option such as Gianis or Jokic to lead the team. Also Imo a package of Tatum + Hauser/White could get either Gianis or Jokic but not a package of Brown + Hauser/White.

I can't believe Jaylen Brown has the time to hop on Twitch/podcast not 24 hours after blowing a 3-1 series lead to the 76ers.

Poor image of a leader.

PP34, KG and those guys would never do this after losing to the Big 3 Heat or the Lakers.

Definitely not a fan of his streaming. He called Embiid a flopper and said some of the refs have an agenda against him. Stop with the excuses man. Just be better! I mean he missed like 6 freethrows in game 5 or 6?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
JB has never been the leader of this team, why would that change?

He was the leader of a not exactly stacked team all season and the team did pretty well.  I am not exactly clear what exactly this question is asking that I trust about him.  That he is going to be the best player on a title team?  That he is a high level #2, 2nd or 3rd team all NBA, perennial all star?

He is an imperfect but very good player.  What exactly is there to trust or not trust?

First sentence. Do you think they can win with JB leading. Not just in the regular season, but in the playoffs as well. I don?t trust him. This is Marcus Smart all over again.

The Marcus Smart comparisons are dumb. Smart was an amazing defender both on and off the ball, was the best passer and lead the team in assists, and only averaged 10 FGAs even as the 3rd option.

Jaylen Brown is a fantastic tough shot maker and volume scorer from all levels and can lock in on D in on a difficult assignment when asked. They are completely different players with Jaylen being All-NBA level and Marcus obviously being DPOY level.

We got solid value for Marcus even though I would have loved to have him here celebrating a championship (it's not like KP did much that run) and I would demand a haul for Jaylen if we traded him

I don't think it is a question of trust, but if you are asking if the time has come to cash in as much as we can on JB, then I say yes.  I don't think JB or JT have that killer instinct, I think they are both very good players. I always liked JT more than JB. I think that has grown more over the years. JB is a weird All Star, I mean he can score and play defense, but I never saw a time where he could take over a game and carry the team on his back.  He also cries way too much over fouls for my liking, just go out and play. Never in history did crying to a ref change the call.
The real question is who can we get for JB that can make a difference? That is the challenge, this league has always been about the team that gets lucky in the draft or getting someone before the turn into a true game changer.
We can do it, but in my opinion the Js are played out. Time to shake things up.

Poor leadership and just crying at this point. Blaming the refs and calling someone a flopper? He had some flops and his former teammate Marcus Smart was like a king of that too.

Like you mentioned, make your dang free-throws, working your handles, stop getting tunnel visions, and drive to the rim more. Stop chucking 3's. Had he made those FTs in Game 5, tides would have shifted to the C's and this series would've been over.

this.

It's become apparent that neither is really an alpha - a player with the indomitable will to win.  They're both great players that would prefer to win but they don't seem to be as bothered by a loss as a true alpha would be.  it's become evident with their weak-minded play in the playoffs.  I've never seen Tatum play like winning was all that mattered but we did see JB play with that purpose when they won the title with his drive to personally take on Luka on offense and defense.

I would love to keep both of them here for their careers but I'm reaching the point where it's too apparent that playing at home means nothing to them where other teams would dread playing here and they play with no heart where they all too often playing lackadaisical offense and defense in critical games

By that definition, how many alphas are there?

Giannis doesn't fit that definition, for instance.  Neither does Jokic, or Durant, or Luka, or LeBron.  These guys are all worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and none will ever be a "win at all costs" type

KG, Kobe...  Those guys don't really exist anymore.

Smart tried to be the leader when he was here. It was a failure. Now Brown is trying to do the same and like Marcus, Jaylen is forcing things, playing hero ball and just making bad decisions under pressure. That is the comparison.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

You don?t think Tatum could lead the Celtics to the playoffs if Brown was out the whole season? Why not, Tatum is better at everything. Scoring, rebounding, passing. He also knows how to perform under pressure.

I don?t understand how you would rather trade JT who was the only Celtics starter with a positive net rating in the playoffs instead of JB who had more turnovers than assists and can?t make free throws in crunch time.
