Potential Awards and Honors

What a surprising and great season!  Besides the race for the title, we have plenty to look forward to:

JB - will most likely be First Team All-NBA and get votes for MVP
Coach Mazz - he'll be in the running for Coach of the Year
Derrick White - he'll most likely be on an All-Defensive Team, possibly first team
Neemus - he'll get votes for Most Improved Player
Brad - he'll get votes for Executive of the Year

The Athletic's NBA Anonymous Player Poll ranked Jaylen Brown as the third-most deserving player to win league MVP. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander overwhelmingly leads all players as he notched 39% of the votes among 159 players asked. Nikola Jokic follows it up as he garnered 21.4% of those votes. Brown tied with Cade Cunningham and Luka Doncic as each three got 8.2% of the votes each.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander overwhelmingly leads all players as he notched 39% of the votes among 159 players asked. Nikola Jokic follows it up as he garnered 21.4% of those votes. Brown tied with Cade Cunningham and Luka Doncic as each three got 8.2% of the votes each.

I believe there's an expression about people partaking in competition can identify others that are also strong when partaking in said competition.

I feel bad because he's almost certainly gonna get screwed here.  Add in the Olympic snub a couple of years ago and you have one of the "biggest chip on shoulders" players in the NBA.

He's got a shot at First-Team All NBA. At worst, he'll be Second Team.  and he should get some votes for MVP.

Hopefully, this gives him some basketball fuel to guide us to the title!

Interesting that Wemby is not in top 3 by the players vote. I had said this in another thread. 6 is about where I would have him. The players are probably not looking at advanced stats.

Honetsly I don't think Jaylen making 2nd team All-NBA would be a huge travesty or anything. SGA, Jokic, Wemby, Luka see like a pretty solid top 4 an I can see arguments for any of Jaylen (huge load, surprise team), Kawhi (Efficiency), Cade (Offensive engine on bets team), and even Mitchell as the fifth guy. I would vote Jaylen as the last 1st team spot, but its close enough to not be a slight if one of those other guys gets it.

That said I do hope it p---es Jaylen off, he plays better when he's angry.
